98 accord v6 trannsmission help please.
hello im new to this website, and the Honda scene. I bought a used 98 accord to get me around but just recently the transmission began to start giving me problem, and now i am finding out it is a pretty common issue with the 98-02 v6 accords. I live in southern California, 90706 area code, and came on here hoping to find someone that could rebuild the transmission for me or can point me to someone or a place that can do it for me for a reasonable price, thanks for the help.
hello, well when i give it gas it seems like it just lags like it wants to go but it takes forever. Then when i take off from a stand still when it goes to shift from 1st gear to 2nd it will shift out of 1st but then just rev up and not go into second. I will have to bring the car to a complete stop and then start from a stop again. But if i let off the gas when it is about to shift from 1st gear into 2nd it will shift into 2nd but it will jerk and then seem like it has no power like it skipped a gear or something.
replace the trans.....honda auto trans are really sensitive so makes it difficult to rebuild correctly...that is why honda recommends them to be replace....chances are the system was contaminated and it got to the valve body....plus rebuilding is gonna cost more if u get parts from honda which im pretty sure honda don't sell auto trans internal parts....factor in parts plus labor to rebuild and labor to remove and install....im thinking about 1600 for parts and labor at 100 per hour where as u can get a used one with warranty for about 600-800 and installed for like 200-400 depending where u go....i can r and r those trans in about 2 hours but book time i think is around 6-7
Of course Honda sells parts for the trans. They are required by law to provide replacement parts for 10 years after the car has ended production.

thats another thing they dont do autos which mean their work is prolly subleted out to another repair facility and so in that case honda is not responsible for it which means that it is an independently ran honda dealer....the dealership i work for is part of american honda which means they control what we can and can't do to the vehicles that come in
Dealers outsource work everyday weather its machine work or something else. Pretty much every Honda dealer in the country will replace an auto versus repair it. Its not worth it and its hard to get customers to pay for it if it cost half of what the car is worth. It cost money to train techs to repair them.
What dealer do you work at? I'd like to call and see if I can order an auto part.

Freemont or Roseville?
So does Honda actually own some dealerships?
I'm not well versed with how Honda dealers are setup, or the geography of Cali

my bad anyhow it seems that honda started letting them sell auto trans parts about a year ago never thought to find out cuz they never use to....honda does not own them but they are controlled by american honda...there are some that are independently owned which means the dealership can make the call on what they wanna do and what they dont wanna do...and i can't really say which one cuz im not even suppose to talk about where i work due to a new policy thing that just passed at our dealer but it is one of those
You make no sense. I was rebuilding auto transmissions at Honda dealerships years ago! Why sublet the work out when I could do it
You just say the wrong thing every time you speak.

we have been rebuilding trans for a long time. done dozens of the accords and we order hard parts on a regular basis. bearings, gears, drums, etc. the clutches we get with an aftermarket oring set. transtech or something.
