ok so i just dropped a new D17A2 in the 02 EX & it has ZERO miles on it. when i did the first start up it was perfectly fine with NO check engine light but it was already idoling weird. the way it idols is that when i drive it its fine but then right after i stop, it starts to idol at 2,000 rpms for like 5 seconds then it stops & idols normal & thats not normal. & the engine light never came on, so today the motor just made about 35 miles into it & i went on the highway for the first time w. the new motor & the engine light came on & i have no idea why & when i stop it still idols at 2 grand . so if you get what im talkin about please help me w. this problem . thanks .

 

Take it to Autozone or whatever auto store near u, and have the CEL scanned for free. Itll tell you where to start...

Other than that, if u come to a stop and the idle goes up to or fluctuates around 2k, then drops down to a solid idle around 500-700... should be normal. At least mine does it, they are supposed to idle low because of the ULEV.

 

hey check the idle air control valve....had the same problem....might have sum carbon build up in there

 

Did you put the car through the Idle Learn Procedure?

 

no but i think i found the problem, should be the IACV . im just gonna replace my old one from my old motor with my new one cause the new motor is from the auto motor & it has a different number on it. thanks .
