F22 from 94 prelude
I have a 94 prelude with 141k miles on it. its a 5 speed with a F22A1.
Car starts fine, but it seems to be only running on 3 cylinders. I swapped the spark plugs (the old one had oil on it?)[cylinder 2] and spark plug wires, and it still was only running on 3 cylinders. I don't know what's wrong with it. Good head gasket, brand new radiator, etc.
Any ideas?

have u checked the compression on each cylinder first do that and if you are running on three youll know which one has the bad compression and once u do that and there is that one bad one i believe you need new rings im not sure but thats how i think you fix a low compression piston just do some research man
oil in the cyliner where the spark plug gose sound like a vavle cover gasket. seems to happen all the time with hondas. there farily inexpensive and all u have to do to replace is is take the valve cover off and pull the old one off and put the new one on... just make sure if ur going to do it, you get a valve cover gasket with spark plug seals. b.c thats whats really the problem.
also be careful when putting it back on to make sure it dose move and end up leaking again. id replace the plugs after that and you shoul b good 2 go!

I think it may be rings as well. But it could possibly be an injector or something. I am going to have a few friends look at it today. I may just buy another engine and toss it in there, depending on price of fixing the current motor(friends do work for free).
Edit:
So you think the spark plug seal is leaking oil into the cylinder?

well if rings shouldnt be to bad if you do it and not a shop u just have to make sure u know what ur doing
and if the injectors are the issue which i dont thionk it is for one it would just bog out all the time but if u think injecotrs take them out and just use some injecvtor cleaner but im thinking mostly the rings are the issue
and if u get a new motor go jdmh22a

ya then just do the research on it and how to replace um i mean its gunna be a lot of work but better then going to a shop and spending what a grand to replace rings idk what shops charge but you and a couple buddies do it man its not that hard really i did it on a ford 2 times u need a ring compressor tho
ur gunna need another head gasket u dont wanna put the head back on an exposed gasket atleast i wouldnt thats my own opinion um pretty much just head gasket u r prolly gunna have to pull the motor out makes it a lot easier but all ur really pulling off is the head
youll need a torque wrench for when u put the head back on tho and just find the torque specs for that head

and oil and what not id flush the oil IMO but i dont think you have to up just minor things replace after plugs what not just make sure to not get any metal shavings in ur cylinder walls thats the most important thing
Thank you!
I'll see what they come up with in a bit and post back our findings. That's fine with yanking the motor. I just hope I can do it within budget. My prelude needs a windshield and front bumper really bad. The rear quarters look like ****, too.

just takes time man just think of what u need the most and right now its motor work
then id look into getting the bumper then the windshield then then do what u can on the quarters dont give up on it they all need work

No man. Windshield then engine. The windshield is ****ing horrible lol. I'll get a pic up tomorrow. I can poke my finger through it (if i tried, the plastic layer or w.e between the 2 pieces of glass is the only thing there in this 1 spot). The windshield is baaaaad.
Not trying to be a dick, but the windshield is terrible lol. The engine is 2nd, considering I can't drive it till I put it on insurence still. I just baught the car.

The oil sitting on top of the plug is just the valve cover leaking and most likely wouldn't cause the car to run bad. You might want to check some other things before tearing the head off. Have you pulled and inspected each spark plug? I'd start there. Is the engine light on?

and did it run better after the spark plug change and seal change????
Hmm maybe I should check my injectors?.. I'm in the process of rebuilding my sons 94 prelude f22A1 motor because it spun a rod bearing. I've been reading up on what can be done to make a f22A1 faster and the answer seems to be as JDM-H22a mentioned "yank it out and drop in a H22"! Good luck!
