Default Bumpstops

i will be installing my koni yellows with h&r race springs ina few days and would like to know where the bumpstops are located. I have no clue about these. From searching ive found out that i should cut it in half ( is that good enough?) and also that taking the whole thing out can kill your shocks. so whats the dillyo?

the bumpstops are those rubber stepped cone looking things on the shaft of your stock shocks. i believe with the h&r races you need to cut off an inch of the top. did they come with instructions? my h&r sports came with instructions for how much to cut the races. i can double check for you... make sure you put the cut bumpstops on though, or if your shocks bottom out you'll bust your valves.

sorry i was being a dick the other day... i was obviously grumpy.

no worries, sorry for snapping too.

on another note, i dont have stock shocks on my car. the person i bought it from had obx coilovers with blown tokico blues. If i took it to a shop would they know where it was? or is it possible that i dont even have one now? if i dont, where should i get one from? thanks

here's a great site to get oem stuff: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com

if you don't have bumpstops, that could be one reason that your shocks are blown. also, blues don't like to be lowered more than 1.5 inches, or they blow. in this diagram, number 11 is the bumpstock.

i called h&r and asked them about cutting the bumpstops on my sports. the instructions indicate to not cut the bumpstops on civics with them. i was wondering if i needed to cut mine though because i'll be installing them with neuspeed/koni's, which are shorter. the guy said that was even more of a reason to leave them alone. i asked him about the races and he said to only cut about one inch off, if that. maybe you should give them a call: 1.888.827.8881.
