bb1 vtec issue
no it cracks hard either way.... you got problems, check your oil level, vtec solenoid screen make sure thats clean. make sure no one ****ed with the wires for the vtec also. and reset your ecu take it out an let it sit for 5 mins
If it cracks hard, its NOT good.......Should be smooth an almost un-noticeable.
More aggressive than a JUN or S2P2? [I run JUN and you can't really hear or feel VTEC x-over@5000rpm]
I fixed it for you;
what cams? Tuned with what? Cam gears set @?

That's just my experience, but I hope that it helps. Individual Experiences May Vary... lol

There is a mechanical test you can perform, but it requires special Honda tools. You could run a TEMPORARY wire out from the sol. wire into the cabin hooked to a test light. If the light illuminates, the solenoid is getting the command from the ECU. Then the mechanical test is in order. Make sure the MIL light bulb works. Ive seen where the bulb gets removed in order to sell a car. You might have dtc's disabling VTEC.
Pop it into 5th gear from 3K rpm and floor it in 5th, if VTEC works then you should hear a notice-able change in engine roar/volume as the RPM climbs up slowly in 5th gear. VTEC should kick in @ around 5.2K rpm.
My JDM H22's VTEC pop loud as f*ck at 4.5K RPM, and yes, stock cams & chipped P28 ECU.
