Thinking about buying a DB with a b20b head on the b18a1, is there an advantage to doing this? Basically I need to know if this setup will pass emissions.

 

i have heard that there is no worthwhile power to gain from this head swap.

as for emissions. i dont see why it shouldnt pass since the heads are very similar. GL

 

The kid says that the motor runs good, correct me if im wrong but the 91 is obd0 wouldnt the b20b head be obd1?

 

I never heard of that. That actually sounds kinda odd but why do you have to replace the head to pass emissions ?

 

I think what he did was peice together the motor and used a b20 head cause thats what he had, plus it has the newer b18b valve cover on it. But when you replace the head wouldnt you have to convert the obd? Cause I know when you put a b18b you have to convert the obd so it will run right

 

check the head stamps to see even what head you have on the car cuss if it has an ls valve cover odds are its an ls head. and have you even tried to pass emissions with it yet ?

 

No, where the kid lives they dont need to do inspection but since I live in the city I do. He says the car runs great, does it matter what obd it has? All they do here is smog test it

 

if all they do is a smog test they will just put a hose at the end of your exhaust to read how much o2 is coming out the exhaust so you should be fine
