Someone who is from your state will probably know your laws better but I'm shocked to hear you are tested on the motor's obd not the cars OEM one.

In my state I'm obd0 chassis (needless to say) with obd1 motor and wiring, I'm tested as an obd0 car.

You'll have to either search around or hopefully someone from your state can chime in.

Well your motor is still a single cam, its a replacement motor.

Why do you need to bar your single cam motor?

You need to use everything that the VX came with from the factory.
ECU, intake manifold, intake air box, exhaust manifold... everything.
You can get away with using CARB legal replacement parts (AEM intake) made for the VX and jumper harnesses unless your ref is a jerk.

It's not a replacement motor because it was never offered in the chassis he installed it in.

the smog ref isnt gonna care about the oem intake box, or the oem exhaust manifold he doesnt have time to track down what part number is on the box or manifold...... just make it look as stock as possible as for ecu he will check if you converted to obd1 and if you are using the correct ecu

Guess it depends on the ref.
Several people I know got hassled for wrong intake box and exhaust manifold.
If the ref knows their Honda then they CAN point it out.

Apparently the refs no longer do the SMOG check so at least that takes some of the worry out of it... but gives the ref more time to hassle you about other stuff.

California sounds like it sucks to own a car there... I can be pouring out black smoke and pissing oil everywhere but as long as my VINs are in the right places I can get my plates and be on my way...
