VTEC MPG
Variable valve timing technology is to allow the engine to operate at it's highest volumetric efficiency possible for that RPM. So technicly it should be better for gas mileage At that RPM then an engine without variable valves. Getting there however is what wastes the most fuel. If you could operate your engine in it's powerband 100% of the time you'd get great mileage, but that's not really possible.
So short and sweet what the guy above me said.

It all depends on how heavy that right foot is.
MY b16 EF hatch I get between 40-42 mpg with GSR cams on a GSR map. I don't get on it very much, and I mostly drive in the city.
Also alot will do with how your trans is geared.
I have a b16 trans 70 mph on the highway = ~4k LS would put you down about 3k or so.

If milage matters do not push the car far enough to enter vtec.
Also even using VTEC you will not stay in it a long time unless you are road racing and milage is needless to say out the window.
this is kinda a silly question.
