Oh OK. So the name is derived from a type of turn on a course and the emblem is derived from Japan's official bird.

TODA is a Japanese surname I think.
Someone once told me Spoon was chosen because the curves of the s, and o's resemble a racetrack - (b.s. if you ask me)
Come to think of it what does:
1. Integra
2. Supra
3. Corolla (Collora
)
4. Lexus
etc etc mean???
Most of these names were computer generated by media consultants.

The crane (the bird) is a national symbol of Japan (like Mt. Fuji). The crane is in the Spoon emblem.
