Default ls vtec loses power at 6k

I have a ls vtec in a 92 eg and when I bring it to 6,000 rpm it loses power and the sound of the exhaust gets quiter. Also the engine temp drops a bit.

It never did this before. This happen to anyone before? Please help! Thanks

4600RPM? Even if it did engage @ 6k, that wouldnt make it lose power...
It sounds like your having a fuel issue.

it sounds like you may have to get a adjustable fuel regulator...if you have done anything to your motor you need to upgrade the fuel pressure..even if its just intake, exhuast, and headers...

+1. im guessing your running a gsr head? vtec cross over is at 5500 rpm. so, it engages, only stays on for 500 rpm then loses power? lol

unless your ecu is chipped or something..

If i filled my gas tank with half Shell with V-Power, and the other half with Chevron with Techron gas...does that mean that my gas is V-TEC?
ROFLMFAO...... that is awsome! I've never heard that one..

wow thanks for helping the thread. it does sound like your having a fuel lean out issue, and at the vtec engagement point at that. i would check the fuel filter, fuel pump, injectors, fuel rail/regulator and make sure everything is hooked up and runnig correct. also double check to see that the fuel system is grounded sufficiently.

on a vtec motor if the vtec engage to hi or to low you will lose power.. You are suposed to set up the vtec at some point that you can bearly hear when is engaiging that is when it will kick in hard... but it could be that the vtec is not engaiging, is the check engine light on?? Any codes??

yea, are there any CEL's?
@Manny 77: if your VTEC engagement point is too high or too low then it will affect your powerband as the VTEC and NON-VTEC cam lobes are designed to work in tandem. BUT it will not cause you to lose overall power. It will just have a drop in power and then it will come back again.
