tuning obd 2...00 si with ls/vtec
Hey guys, I'm new to the world of dohc tuning...not going to get into my history of cars cuz I'm sure nobody cares, I have a 00 civic si and plan on building a ls/vtec motor because the b16a2 isn't cutting it for me anymore...after everythings all said and done of course I'm going to need a tune, in my county of pennsylvania we have emission testing every year so I need to keep the car obd2....what do you guys recommend in the way of tuning this motor, I don't want to have to swap the motor out when I have emissions every year, lol, any opinions or suggestions?
Yea....I know a wideband would be good starting point but I've never really heard extremely good things about the vafc or safc...I know besides piggyback aem ems those are the only other ways to go but what ecu should I run, I've had a few friends tell me itr or gsr ecu should be able to run it fine and I've been told to use a ecu conversion harness, drop it down to an obd1 ecu like p28 which idk what car that's from but to socket and tune that ecu and when it comes time to do emissions change the injectors and put it back to obd2 which isn't too bad just for emissions, but I don't wanna run the risk of messing anything up on an ecu that's untuned for the ls/vtec...
You should really call your local tuning shop and ask them what they recommend preferably your local honda performance shop. They will know better since they live in or around the area and should know how to get around it.
