Default GC/Koni problem

Has anyone ever had a problem with their spring actually being shorter than the strut? I have 430f 350r springs rates both 7" springs. The rear is fine but in the front I have about an inch left to lower and my springs are sitting about a half inch above the top of the strut. I would like to go lower than I am along with tophats that I already ordered but I'd have to go back to 8 inch springs.

pretty much like this when I put the car on jack stands

well im trying to get back to as low as I was before, I had the ots 8" springs and had them as low as they could go but they were just too bouncy so I ordered the springs that I have now and I can't turn them as low

If your spring is below your shock your pretty much bottoming out your shock from the get go. Are you trying to blow your shock? I am guessing that you already have the Koni circlip on the lowest notch.

Perhaps you was too bouncy because your riding on your shocks or bumpstops if you have em and not using the springs at all. You can play around with all the springs you want but if your not using them it's worthless. 7" or 8" springs deosn't matter. You compensate the lenght from the adjustments that you have. Also, just because you have all that adjustment doesn't mean you have all that adjustment. Plus, I don't think those Koni's are designed to carry that much spring rate. You have the wrong setup for what your trying to do.... or your doing the wrong thing to accomplish what you want.

OTS konis can handle up to 600lbs IIRC.

Not according to Koni North America. 550 lbs is max on Yellows.

550lb is the max for those shocks other wise the shocks are just coming along for the ride.

If you call ground control up they will tell you that.

What shock perch are the sleeve set on? If its bottoming out the shock and you're still not low enough you might have to get the konis shortened, or just get airbags.

This is coming from personal experience. The GC/Koni set up is not any good for a low stance. You will not have ANY suspension travel.

The Koni yellow has a shorter shaft doesn't help the cause either.

A few suggestions:

1. GC top hats will give you about an inch of extra travel.
2. Trim down the bumpstops a bit more. maybe 1/2 to 1inch, depending on your height. It's always good to have more because it will dampen if any impact were to happen.
3. Fork trick, will yield about 3/4"

You have to kind in mind that the you can go very low with ground controls but you will have absolutely no suspension travel once you dip into the 3" mark.

Also, it does not matter which perch you are at. Essentially, you will adjust to the desired height so that perch setting does not matter one bit. So leave them on the stock perch setting.

Get coilovers that has an actual ride height adjustment. Those threads is not truly intended for ride height adjustments but for preload depending on the lenghts of the springs.
Cirlced is for height adjustments. This is a Spoon coilover kit.
