Default Where to B series engines

Hey guys i currently have a 1994 Honda Civic EX Sedan 5Spd, and i am looking into a B16a2 or B18c1. It would help if you guys could help me with some companies and there websites on where to purchase these engines. Companies that wont sell you engines that have no compression or have other problems. Somewhere where they have a 100% start up. i have found some website, i will list the on the bottom and if you have bought from them let me know what you thought about there business and how the engine turned out. But it would really help if you guys would be willing to share with me some companies that you all have purchased from and are worth purchasing from if i dont have them listed. Please and thanx for your help.

Here are the website i have found, opinions on these companies if you have purchase from them:

Hmotorsonline.com
jspecautosports.com
japanmotorimport.com
jazzproparts.com
JDMenginezone.com
JDMenginedepot.com
jdmsource.ca

I've always heard good about HMotorsOnline, but I think there are others out there. HMO has been mentioned so many times here that I'm sure that's who a lot of people here will suggest.

Or, get a block cheap and rebuild it. A bore, hone, new rings and bearings will set you back under $300. You can get a block cheap and use the pistons and everything you want that way.

i would try to get a block locally and rebuild it. That way you will have a fresh motor with 0 miles built to YOUR spec.

well if you get a motor rebuilt with new parts at a machine shop then its basically the same thing. I had my D series block cleaned, honed, tanked, baked & notched. I had the crank micropolished, stress relived and balanced. New; Bearings, Forged H Beam Rods w/ ARP Bolts, YCP STD Size Vitara Pistons, Piston Rings, Seals & pumps. The head was a low mileage Z6 head which I had cleaned, polished and adjusted to original spec, so it was like new aswell. I think thats basically as close to brand new as you can get without directly buying a motor. And its actually better if you ask me, considering it doesnt come with a fully weighted and balanced rotating assembly when u get it from Honda.

A used block may actually be better. A new block could have had casting issues or such. A used block you know it's solid.

Since everyone is broke, it's a good time to find a used motor local. I'm listing a bunch of stuff and a lot of others are also, just to pay bills or for repairs. Help your fellow car nuts instead of sending the money overseas.

Thanx guys for all your help, some of you made a good point on gettting an block and rebuilding it again from scratch. but the reason i dont wanna get a motor from here in my town is because the majority of these engines are stolen and go around town very often and the police down here are tracking them down. They have people pop there hoods very often. I will definately look into HMO sounds like great people to buy from and im gonna leave it all motor for awhile till i can afford the Peakboost HVS Turbo kit. Thanx guys great help.
