Default 1.8 Accord Intake manifold question

Hi guys new to this forum so firstly hello !

Im hoping someone can help me out, I drive 2001 1.8 Accord im trying to upgrade the intake manifold from my stock b18 to a accord type r as i have the oportunity to buy one cheap.

Just wondering if this will be a direct swap ? I've heard the the b16 from a civic ?!? flows better ?

Thanks alot

i think you may be mixing some things up.. you have an 01 accord with a 1.8L, i'm assuming this is a european spec? if so, I don't think you have a B18, you have an F18 which is some sort of destroked F23 with a funny looking intake manifold.

anyway, if you could confirm some of this information that would help in getting some answers. check the panel (near the transmission) on the engine to see what the engine code is, maybe take some pics of what you're working with.

the trouble is i don't think accords came with b-series in any form (unless there was a rare model that had the B20 like the old preludes) and if you do have the F18, the B16 manifold will not fit.

welcome to the forum

My mistake HondaMark it is a F18 thinking B18 because on the block it says " F18B2 " yes it is Euro spec sunny old england here.

You say the F18 is a variation of a F23 engine so it has the potential to be stroked ?

Is a AEM forced induction kit worth while ? At the minute im running a pipercross short pipe but i think it suffers heat soak from being in the engine bay.

Any way i've got some pics so here we go (sorry they are a bit bandwidth demanding rescaled them to 600 x 800 :S) ...

Cheers again

i think you mean cold air induction. (forced induction would mean turbo or supercharger) there's an ongoing debate about which is better.. i just built an air box around my filter to block it from the under hood temps. then i cut a 3 in hole to allow outside air into the box. you can purchase specially made insulation kits or improvise something yourself. either way, don't expect much gain with the intake alone.

I haven't had the pleasure to explore the F18 first hand. all i know about it i've gleaned from other forums and websites. from the pic you posted i can say the manifolds are the only apparent difference to the F23A1 which very common in the US accords. i can only speculate on what would interchange. i don't know the bore of the F18, or the main bearing sizes.. all the internal things that are important for stroking.

i bet that 1.8 is pretty revy though, i wouldn't trade that for the poor rod/stroke ratio of the F23 rotating assembly. it would be a big job for a little bit of low end torque.

there is a good amount of info here: (take the spaces out, for some reason the site won't allow it to be posted ..)
