Default Alpine CD Changer Output to the CD Player?

What I am wondering is: How is the audio from the CD Changer transported to the Alpine CD player? I know it is through the Ai-Net cable but is it a digital signal feed into the Ai-Net port on the cd player or is it converted to a low-level analog signal then sent down the Ai-Net cable?

I have an Alpine CDA-9807 CD player in my car:

I just bought a used Alpine CHA-S634 CD Changer:

Fairly sure it's a digital signal, I don't see any reason why they would run it through an A/D converter beforehand.
