You know that bigger doesn't always mean better...especially in the rear.

once you have destroyed the stock size units in one track weekend.. then it may be time to upgrade.

untill then save money and pimp the OE stuff.

I had all sorts of brake fade problems at the track no matter what pad or fluid combo I used. Then I came across a pic of an ITR w/ StopTech brakes and posted it here. One call to Bob Lee at StopTech and next thing I knew, their Big Brake Kit was purchased and installed. At last month's 2 day track event in 100°+ heat, no brake fade at all - yeah! Finally an event where I didn't have to mess w/ the brakes

Not an ITR, but several big brakes were tested in the recent Car & Driver mag. Read about it here.

Damn, Yoshi. Mine didn't fade, even at CMP.
the best stock combo I used so far was probably P+ w/ Motul600. Even w/ that, the brakes started to fade and then the pedal went straight to the floor by the end of the day Several mechanics tried to help out w/ my car, but they were stumped. Bob assured me I wouldn't have any more similar problems w/ their kit and he was right.

yshi - knows that 17" bling blings and big brakes goes against the grain of most guys here, but I tried it as a last resort and it's worked out so far

removed the splase shields yet?

ATE super bl00 and most any track pad (P+, XP's, Bl00s, R4's) no fade at all.

CMP = did not bleed brakes for 3 days.. the pedal was soft (on the drive back) but a fresh fluid cycle = bling bling brakes.

We don't even seem to need to multi-pot calipers. I've never had a problem with the brake pads wearing unevenly.
Besides more even pad wear, multipiston calipers also allow better brake modulation. The stock brakes are great and bite hard, but lack the linear and gradual application.

Did Spoon even use their own multipot calipers on their own ITR? I think I remember noticing once that they did not.
Spoon used their own brake calipers for all their race cars in Japan, *as long as the rule allows*. The picture of one ITR that we saw without the Spoon brakes, it was because the car was racing in the One Make Series and no caliper upgrades were allowed. When that car was racing in the SuperTaikyu series, it was equipped with the Spoon brakes (info from Spikey).

How do you avoid strangling yourself when stomping the middle pedal?

.....please share details of getting this combo to work!

nothing other than better rear pads...

the rear wheels just keep the gas tank from dragging the ground.

.....do you mean BIGGER as in diameter, or thickness?

Seems like people are voting for CALIPERS... and not ROTORS

I think we all need to refer to the SUBJECT of the thread.....

My vote is for the autozone slugs... warranty OWNZ j00!

That big brake kit looks sweet Yoshi. I know they say the calipers are matched to the master cylinder, etc., but how's the pedal feel, etc with the big brake kit compared to stock?

Anyone have just their rotors with stock calipers? Notice much improvement in fade resistance etc?

thanks (i wonder how it would've looked in red) Pedal 'feel' is great, way more firm than stock. Really easy to modulate whether it be on the street or out on the track.

t00 bad you're went in socal, i'd let you try out the brakes

Yep, that's one of the megadollar center lock wheels! I haven't weighed the calipers but I am sure the 4 piston Nissan calipers weigh almost the same as a single piston Honda setup.

Did you shave the face of the caliper? Looks like a BIG chunk has gotten shaven up.
