RHD with LHD pedal assembly
is the usdm pedal assembly the same as the JDM, im wondering b.c im getting an auto jdm clip and i have a usdm 5 speed
ill never b able to get just a jdm pedal assembly by its self it is any different.
also is the ecu on the right side of the jdm clip or is it on the right side (passenger side)
like a mirror version of are usdm. the reason iask is its missing a lower interior peice (witch would be the usdm fuse box cover).. i guess it wont matter though and i can just leave the fuse box and ecu where they are and at worse extend somes wires, its more work but w.e

I know the harness is different and the power steering runs differently in the engine compartment.
Pedal position is the same, but Im not sure if its the same assembly.

ill get a good look this weekend coming up b4 i buy it.
im not going to switch the trunk release/gas door. sence i dont have the jdm floor mats.
other then the auto/5speed and the firewall its should all b plug and play :]
and im getting the orignal doors with mirrors ;]
anyone whos done this conversion had any real issues they want to let me know about?
It's smaller on the right side, so the pedals are a little closer together. If possible, you should try and find a RHD 5spd front clip. I know this for a fact, cause I did a RHD conversion to my 99 Prelude. Here's a link for some pics of my whole process http://bceretrofits.shutterfly.com/ why leave the trunk latch on the left side. If you're going to go through all this work of doing the conversion, why not just switch that around as well.

so the guy i know doing this converison for me never did a prelude but has done civics and integras, he was telling me he wants to flip the usdm harness insted of useing the jdm harness b.c it has extra **** that we dont get like bumper pole and half mast (and stuff s models dont come with any way like el gauges and fog lights ) i told him that there are a few write ups on the jdm climate controle installation and suggested he just used the jdm harness sence it would prob be easyer for the jdm climate controle and power folding mirrors and stuff like that.
ppl who have done this swap what did you do. use the jdm harnesses and plug and play or hard wire the stuff for the jdm climate controle into your usdm harness?
or was the jdm harness even for the most part plug and play?
also i suggested he used the jdm harness's b.c like i said im getting the doors with switches and powerfoldin mirrors.
but then i told him how ever he wants to do it sence... well hes the one doing it. and i dont care if he dose it ABC, or 123 as long as the end result is working correctly

and trust me a 5 speed would be nice. but this one is fairly local to me, good price, has the doors and all parts needed to do the conversion. also the iv never once seen a rhd clip in as good of conditon for sale (atleast in the pictures of it that have been sent to me, but ill be the judge of that in person on friday when i go to check it out :]!!!!)
so thats why im going to go with this auto clip unless it wont work for me/ but even if the holes dont line up exectly with my usdm pedal. my dude will make it work, i know he can im extreamly confident in his ability after checkin out his own car he did
The way the brackets are on the RHD are shaped a little differently than the ones on the LHD. I figured this out, cause I had sold a guy a brake pedal and when it came time to me putting my pedals in, the one I had wasn't fitting so I had accidently shipped out my RHD brake pedal instead of my LHD pedal. Luckly the guy still had it, and he shipped it back to me.
As for using the dash wiring, I also thought about just flipping the USDM harness around, but it didn't quite work. I don't remember exactly, but there were a few small things that didn't line up. I do remember that the harness for the wipers wasn't going to reach, so I of course used the RHD wipers on the car, and the climate control wiring is different cause I'm using the Digital one, and there was some other little things. If you're wanting the Digital CC in your car, you should ask your builder to make it work with the USDM harness. You say you're picky about things, so definitely get that done.
The only things I really had to hard wire was the wiring going to the door, cause the clips were cut off, and some of the wiring running along the side of the car. Some of it was easy, cause the wires matched up, but some were a little difficult to figure out. Using a Helms helped me out a bit with figuring out what wires needed to be switched around. A lot of the wires under the dash were PnP, so to me, using the JDM harness would just be easier.
I don't think there has been a lot of people who have done this conversion to a Prelude. I've seen civics and integras, but nothing for a Prelude which is why I decided to do this. I only know 1 other person who attempting to do it right now and he lives in VA. Pretty soon, I'll be doing another RHD conversion for a friend of mine locally. He's suppose to be picking up the car today, and then a front clip in the next few weeks. I'll have another thread going with a lot of pics
If you jump on prelude power, PM Bartosz cause he might be able to get you some RHD floor mats as well as carpet for a 4th Gen. He sent me RHD floor mats for my 99 Prelude last week.

idk how 5th gens are but with the 4th gens theres alot involved to make the jdm climate controle work in a usdm car. i would think it would be easyer to use the JDM harness sence it already works with it correct?
did u just mean to say jdm harness?
you ended up useing the jdm harness it sounds like? sorry but you didnt officaly say witch one just that the usdm one didnt work so well ...
i have a ************ account with the same user name but never post on there. usaly just looking ill keep that in mind but for right now im not worried about the floor mats. im already spending money i shouldnt to do this lol. so if i can come buy them one day down the road ill prob pick them up.
im in maryland btw
**edit**
oh yeah also if the jdm harness is already set up to accomidate the jdm climate controle. also i have a usdm "s" witch did not have the EL gauges and this clip im getting did have a h22 (im not sure of witch year) but its its a 93 jdm (94 usdm) wont i be able to just get a el gauge and silver box if i used the jdm harness and it is the correct year harness?
so wouldnt that be more reason to go with a jdm harness?

LOL, yea I meant to say use the JDM harness, but if you think your builder can make things work with the US harness, then go for it. I was just typing so fast that I didn't go back over what I wrote. I did use the JDM harness with I did the whole RHD conversion just cause it was easier.
To do the EL gauge conversion is real easy. I actually just did this conversion about 2 weeks ago. It probably only took me 30 min from start to finish and everything was PnP. I'm pretty sure it all works the same between RHD and LHD. Here are some links on how to do the swap

yeah i know its plug and play for 94-96 usm si and vtec models. but like i said i have a 95 "s" with h22a swap so i would need to source the correct harness if the jdm one in the clip wont work (im not sure of year but like i said it did have an h22 in it.) also it dosnt have have an EL cluster now so idk?
theres one on ebay for 200 bucks plus shipping and thats the only time iv seen the harness and cluster and silver box and dimmer switch but if i can get away with a 80 dollar cluster and silver box and plug and play it saves me some $$$ you know ;]
it doesn't matter the year. I did the EL conversion to a 92 Prelude S which has an h22a4 swapped into it and everything works just fine. All you need is the dash wiring, cluster, tools, and time...
yeah i understand that.. like i said i hope the jdm clip has the correct harness for the EL's b.c if not i need to get one and its alot more expesive like i said its 200 on ebay with it. 80 with out so... well see.. main thing is getting it done and being all rhd :] ballllin
LOL, it's definitely fun having a RHD car, cause it's different, and not a lot of people see them. I'm just planning on keeping mine for about a year or 2 and then selling it unless if someone gave me an offer I just can't refuse before then
im keepin mine untill some grimy theif takes it :] its not my daily but iv had it sence i was 16. i drive an accord coupe to work and stuff and have had my prelude off the road for close to a year... i cant wait till my littel "weekend warrior" is back on the road... witch will be right after this conversion is complete
sooo i went 2 purchase my clip lastnight and check it out and it looks likes its in really good condition. with the car only havein 4 thousand and some change on the car... (cluster atleast was 3 thousand and change KM)
the dash and doors seemed to be in great condition. i brought a brand new battery with me but the car had no battery termal wires. and we wernt sure where to try and put power while at the same time not blowing all types of fuese...
when i go to pick it up in 2 weeks ill look on my car frist. maybe even take my terminal wires so i can see this thing light up :]
i belive the guy when he says it light up in japan when he drove it. (brought 16 clips back with him, also had some storys while he was there and this is busniss not some somes back yard so for the most part i belive him...
theres only slightly a few things wrong with the dash... check out these pics and see...

dont mind the upper circle. but missing as of now that lower interior pannel (still searching for it)

power folds ;]

jdm rain guards will be for sale soon. so will door pannels - the switches and switch peice

also it dose have the tweeters behind the covers on the dash witch my car dose not and also to note the spot that sticks up on the dash there the C.C is... is the excet spot where the dds sound system gose.. so that will get taken care of one way or another ;]
and from askin ?s about the center concole and stuff this clip is a 92-93 unofficaly.. he can prob find the info in his paper work from when he bought the car in jap but we didnt look lastnight. sooo geting an el gauge is still an issue right now
this clip dose have the key as well.
sorry about the long post guys. hope you liked it though.. and if not.. screw u haterss :]

what's missing from the top corner? If you're talking about that circular piece, I'm pretty sure that's suppose to be there. On the 5th Gen., there's a similar piece in the middle of the dash by the windshield. It's just a sensor for your climate control.
Damn, never seen that blue of carpet before. Looks like a fairly clean clip, but 4k on the cluster? Seems waaaaay low for that old of a car. They had to have changed that or they drove it till it wrapped back around.

I forgot if you told me you already found an EL cluster or were needing one, cause if you're needing one, here's a guy in Houston who's selling it for only $40 only need the harness that goes from the box to the cluster itself http://houstonpreludeclub.com/forums...ead.php?t=4339
