about a month to world cup, and i have decided to put car on a diet.
it is basically still 100% intact, minus rear bumper insert, spare tire stuff, exhaust ac and power steering.
everything else is there,
not looking to hack car. i want to retain seats and trim panels.
besides taking out speakers, seatbelts, and the rest of the ac stuff, where and how does one remove weight?
i am still trying to maintain the illusion of a fully intact car.
also where can i get a rear wiper delete for the si>?
thankyou for all the kind words over our last few threads.

well i took 30lbs of sound deadener off the floor, seatbelts were heavy, airbags and all the wiring, heater core and condenser and filter under the dash are all bulky and prob were 20-30lbs. Then like you said with the radio, speakers, and other audio stuff it adds up fast.
1) Have the car in a nice spacious area, so you have plenty of space to move around the car and keep all the bits out your way that you remove.
2) Make sure your in a good mood, if your not you might start removing things you wish you didnt.
3) Start removing items you know wont be imortant to you.
Heres what I removed from my dailly runner:
Most of the backend apart from seats
I stuffed some pillows in the quarter to sound deaden abit
Removed sound deadening underneath carpet, but left the carpet there
Power steering
Windscreen washer stuff
AC
Shields underneath the car
Removed webbing from bonnet and tailgate
Not to extreme but made a nice difference

I pulled 46lb of sound deadening out of my Teg Mikey, and at least another 20lb in wiring... haha

cf hood loose 25lbs
odyssey 10 lbs battery lose 25 lbs
sound deadening material 30lbs
heater core/ blower motor 10lbs
cf hatch saved 15 lbs
lightweight kirkey racing seats lose 50 lbs
steering wheel 5lbs
pass airbag 9 lbs
rear interior 10lbs
rear aluminum lower control arms 4lbs
ac comp/lines/condensor/dryer 20lbs
pwr steering 7 lbs
front bumper support 18 lbs
rear bumper support 14 lbs
other stuffs like factory cast exhaust manifold/exhaust/muffler/etc.. 40lbs
my car was a crx dx, so I swapped in the crx hf doors and save another 30lbs, hf doors don't have side impact beams inside the doors just like cx doors on eg. Also hf 8 gallons fuel tank vs 10 gallon tank, I think the same for cx eg hatch.
At the track, I saved an addition 70lbs with slicks and skinnies
My car weighed in at 1960 lbs with 6 points cage included driver, still retained full glass/dash/door panels/carpet/seats/working head lights

dont even know where to start alot of u guys covered the basic things. but u need to just look at every inch of your car & say "DO I NEED THIS?". if not. its gone. lol
i am in the process of a rear end setup that should shave about 65lbs off the rear end. & it isnt a spindle mount strut or straight axel. perfectly legal but not cheap. will deff look nice.

This may be a little far fetched, but you could go as far as taking out the door bars that run along the interior of the door skin. Seeing as how you probably have a cage, these really arent needed. Add in the plastic and "goo" that holds it on, you're looking at about 10-15 lbs right there. I know JDMDan did it in his teg. Right now without his motor in it, the car weighs 1400lbs (full glass, 8pt cage, memoryfab seats, dash, door panels). He's the man to ask about weight reduction. Unfortunately he doesn't really get on these forums anymore. I'll see what other crazy ideas he has and I'll let you know.
Strip the undercoating off the bottom of the car
Replace as many steel brackets/piping/bolts with aluminum counterparts as possible
Cut out unused brackets all around the car
Hole saw large pieces of sheetmetal wherever possible
Fully eliminate any non essential wiring

i was pretty shocked how much wiring came out of the car. you can run just a few wires from the rear of the car to the front. obd2 engine harnesses make it pretty simple to eliminate a TON of wiring, specifically under the dash, with out spending much if any money at all. other than that ive never done anything other than the "basics" to my cars. pretty much always end up at 2400-2500 with me in it. could get it lighter but always tried to make sure the car would be legal since we NEVER seem to have any "set in stone" rules...
