What oil to use when running clutch type LSD
I am starting to get confused from all the answers i have been recieving on what oil to use in the K tranny when a clutch type LSD is installed.
I have been told by the LSD manufacturer (KAAZ) to use their GL5 80W-90 oil. I understand that this oil has friction modifiers. Would this oil harm the syncros in the K tranny?
Also i have been told by a fellow road racer to mix the GL5 80W-90 oil with Honda MTF to reduce the friction modifier % in the oil.
Help on this would be much appreciated!!!!!

Don't listen to Kaaz, they just want you to buy their fluid (Same with ATS, Cusco etc etc). I don't have a problem with companies pushing a product to make money (we're all in business to make money), but when it's the wrong product for the application, that's when I have a problem.
What fluid were you using previously, and having success with?
What you want is normal transmission fluid (Honda MTF, Torco MTF, Amsoil MTF etc), then add some Friction modifier only until the plate chatter stops (or reaches an acceptable level. Only you can determine this). You don't want to add too much as this will start to affect the functionality of the synchros.

This is the first time we run clutch type LSD. We used to run either Honda MTF or Redline lightweight shockproof with success.
The recommendation we are getting from the supplier of the KAAZ lsd is to use the KAAZ oil. Though I have been told that the GL5 oils (which the KAAZ oil is) is not yellow metal friendly and that it will wear out the syncros.
I have also been told by a local racer to use the MTF and use GM friction modifier. Any idea which additive is better and how much to use?
Thanks for the input!!! Always nice to hear good advice from a manufacturer even if it is not their product!! Thanks M Factory.

I ran Pennzoil Synchromesh and 1/3 tube of posi additive in my Kaaz. It lasted 50k street/race miles until I broke it. Ray @ Kaaz USA was surprised on the mileage. Had I not broken the clutch plates, no idea how long it would have lasted.
