SO my car is a 02 LX non vtec. i baught a vtec motor too bad it came with a CUT harness and ecu with pigtails on it. Now i wasnt going to sit there and rewire all of them back up so i decided to use my non vtec harness on the vtec motor and i have a couple of questions.
1: HARNESS; Can i even use my non vtec harness? i know it doesnt have the vtec solonoid plug and theres another circular plug just underneath that that is not on the vtec harness. how do i go about wiring those two up?
2: EGR VALVE; my non vtec motor didnt have an egr valve but the vtec one had an egr built into the thermostat housing. I thought if i switched over both theromostat housings and put the non vtec one with no EGR valve on it,(since im using the non vtec harness with no egr plug on it) it should work right? or am i wrong here?
3: ECU; As i mention the vtec ecu has its pigtails on it. the vtec ecu/harness has 4 plugs that go into the ecu. from left to right they are
"GRAY / WHITE / BLACK / EMPTY SLOT / WHITE"
but since im using my non vtec harness i have one big gray which is the size of the first gray and white put together then black , empty slot, then the white. first of all the first big gray one is ONE CONNECTOR but on the ecu the gray and white are two seperate connectors which means i obvoiusly can not connect the ONE big gray non vtec connector into the TWO slots where the gray and the white go. SO what the hell do i do? Am i forced to use my non vtec harness?
4: EX MANIFOLD; As far as i know vtec D17A2's didnt come with a catilatic (sp) converter on their exhaust manifold. I baught the d17a2 with no manifold. My D17A1 manifold has a cat on it. It lines up perfect nothing seems to be the problem but would my engine be a bit restricted since it has a cat on the manifold? Is there a problem running a D17A2 with a D17A1 exhaust manifold?
5: IF everything is too much of a problem should i just instead try to solder and end up making use of the VTEC harness to make my life easier instead of running thru all these problems lol? I really dont want to since i hate electrical but ill do what i have to do.
Thats about all the questions i got i know their big questions but any help is appreciated thanks in advance.
