Went Testing - New Mitsu Gas Record
We went out testing the good 'ole 1g FWD auto DSM Wednesday to try and dial in a couple things. I gave the wider rims (12") another shot and also finally began the changeover to running VP Import.
First pass was a little past the 330' on Q16 fuel:
1.341 60'
3.629 330'
5.631 at 107 1/8th
10.096 at 95.9 1/4
Second pass was a full pass, but breaking up bad up top - too rich and too much plug gap. We dropped tire pressure down a little and it hooked well, but left at a little bit low boost. Running 45-46psi on about a 90/10 mix of Q16/Import:
1.330 60'
3.626 330'
5.491 at 131.97 1/8th
8.5001 at 161.86 1/4
Third and final pass I made sure I had 13-14psi leaving the line, leaned it out a pinch, and dropped the plug gap to ~0.022". Boost fell to 43-44psi on about a 60/40 Q16/Import mix and I lifted just a slight bit early:
1.2978 60'
3.5531 330'
5.4068 at 130.49 1/8th
7.0129 1000'
8.3808 at 167.25mph
I believe this puts us as the quickest mitsubishi on gas that hasn't been converted to RWD.
We had to pack it up and head home since our babysitter had school he next morning. I have no doubt it has more left in it. Its back in the garage now and nothing is hurt, so we'll be heading out again to put the screws to it. I'm sure the turbo has a little bit more left in it and the tune definitely has some headroom as the plugs looked dead clean. Next time out will probably also feature some SparkTech coils, but no major changes planned aside from giving it hell.
Have to thank the guys that have been helping me out:
Forced Performance and their killer cams
Wiseco Pistons - 1400HD's
Precision Industries Billet Torque Converter
Borg Warner/Airwerks 76mm S400SX3 76/83 turbo
Monkeywrench Racing
TRE shot-peened gears
Unfortunately, I don't have video. We'll do our best to get video next time out as we intend to go quicker and faster then.

It reacts faster on the wide rims and they seem even more shake tolerant, which is great. I only had one launch on a pro tree, but cut a 0.069 light, previous best on the 10" rims was a 0.104. That was the fastest the combo of me and the car could cut, I was consistently in the 0.11-0.15 range.
Thanks for the tire pressure advice, the last run was at 6.25psi. From 6.25-6.5psi was about the same and the car is still nice and stable on the top end with 6.25psi. The car needs an alignment before it goes out again, it has a little camber on the right tire and standing it straight up should help. I really see consistent high 1.2's as a possibility.
