ap1 s2k Sound from rear.
Hey everyone i have a odd situation.
My car is a 2000 with 130 000km
After driving for about an hour the rear drivers wheel starts making a rubbing sound.
Metalic sound consistant with the wheel spinning.
The sound comes and goes time to time and is very loud.
i think it might be heat sensitive.
i have no play in the wheel so it doesnt seem like a wheel bearing but could it still be the wheel bearing? I checked the rotors pads and caliper they seem to be perfectly fine.
the axel is tight and the sound is not comming from the dif. Anyone give me an idea what i am looking for. I have a feeling its time for a new wheel bearing but just wanted to be sure.
thanks everyone.

You jacked the car and and shook the rear wheel left to right and up&down and there was no play at all? With the e-brake off (wont make a huge difference, but could effect it)?
yea no play at all. put the prolly could be on the way to falling apart? cause there are no other parts on the hub that rotate and can make the sound

I had a similar problem on my 01 when I first got it, it sounded like the brake pad scratcher was rubbing on the rotor. Turns out it was the axle nut, I took it off and put a tiny bit off lithium grease on the back side of the nut and put it back on and to this day havn't had a problem with it. Hope this helps.

yeah i had mine done... its a TSB from honda so that could be your problem... i think u have to torque that bitch down to 220ft-lbs or so...
i had the same thing happen last month. no play what so ever in the wheel, but the bearing was bad. my hub was trashed too. it pretty much fell out of the old bearing upon removal. i've heard that this is common with ap1's and if you don't replace both at the same time, the new bearing will wear out MUCH sooner than it should.
