Default Off road CRX B20

Hi guys and to all the future honda community. I am building a off road CRX B20 all motor and I am uploading a few engine pictures for now. CRX will be totally gutted and this includes the windows and fenders. Heres the B20 a little cleaned up for now...Modifications include: IM Heat shield gasket, home made PVC intake with autozone air filter, ITR headers, OEM IM, injectors, internals, 10.2 silicone wires, Bosch +4 plugs, new OEM cap and rotor, CTR N1 pulley, custom valve cover work done Gustavo. Next will be detailing the bottom end with LSD installed in LS tranny and Hasport mounts....Enjoy........

I wouldn't have painted that intake manifold black. Holds heat.

But cool thing on the off road CRX. Are you going to run it in the desert or do you mean Off-Road Drag strip only?

dump the plugs and wire for OEM ones trust me, and why put an LSD into an LS trans :S

You'll have to be a lot more specific then "internals".

Either way good luck and enjoy.

Seriously dude dump the Bosch plugs for NGK. Thats what the motor was built to run with. The extra three electrodes are just great for turning the buisness end of these plugs into a big ball of carbon. Bosch was designed for German cars (i.e. BMW, Volvo, Mercedes) not for our Japenese designed engines, on top of that if this is a true JDM what the hell are Bosch plugs doing in it anyway?

In short recommend you put NGK V-Power Platinums at around $3 a plug or some Autolite Double Platinum at around $4 a plug. Either way they will run better then the Bosch plugs.

This CRX will be for glamis and the and offroad areas surrounding the Imperial Valley. I live close to these playgrounds. Right now the CRX is currently going under construction. All the windows are being removed, all interior is going out except dash and seats, front fenders completely removed, cutting into the rear fender walls for wheel/tire clearance and will be pressure washed down for a little paint job. I have yet to order/install the roll cage, window nets, transmission M-factory LSD, tires and suspension work. Pictures off the CRX under construction will be coming up shortly as soon as I get a camera again...Hope this answers some questions. Thanks for the input.

If its going to be used off road why spend the money on a LSD why not just weld the diff or use a spool, it wont be a problem turning in the sand or dirt. If you want to keep the tires spinning in the sand you are better off with a shorter geared transmission like a b16. I think the ls trans might bog down. you can use some accord shocks to raise it a couple inches too.

I was thinking you can lower the engine in the bay so when you "lift it" or modify your suspension you wont have axle binding issues. Pretty cool.. Are you going to put paddles on it?

Paddles on a FWD??? HMMMM Sand tires unlimited in Temecula has all kinds of different sized paddles with softer cups that you can run.

Ok listen and listen hard....if you're running larger wheels and tires then you are going to need a shorter geared tranny like a B16. Also if you're shaving off weight, you might want to add some to the rear otherwise the car is gonna be really nose heavy. Every time you go over a bump it's gonna nose dive, smashing the front and twisting the frame. Trust me if you can give it a better weight balance and gear ratio it will be be worth it...otherwise it will ride like crap and be even slower.

Alright looks like some people are interested in how this project will turn out and I will do my best not to disapoint. These are a few of the items I bought for this project so far: Hasport motor mounts, rear motor mount braket, used and in good condition axles, Zex 100 Dry shot and cleaned/detailed engine a little more. GBC motorsports Tires will be the next thing on my list and I will post pictures very soon of the items listed as well as the CRX being torn down. (My tranny work will be one of the last things I do before I put in the CRX). Just waiting for a camera again, I am cheap and don't want to spend the money on a camera....

I dont like to talk crap but if you go with GBC for traction in your CRX then I am guessing it will suck.

Are you going to put the same rollers that Yamaha Rhinos run? I have a rhino and tried GBC sand tires they suck booty.
I went with STU's shaved blasters. But to each his own I guess.
