Default b16 swap, bad starter?

my swap in my 89si, sometimes when i start it the cylanoid just clicks once, and if i tap on the starter it will usually fire right up. common sence says its the starter but could it be anything else? oh and will a d16a6 starter work on my b16?

If you have doubts about it being the starter, take it off and take it to an auto parts store, they test them for free. It is only 2 bolts.

More than likely the solenoid is going bad if it's clicking and when you tap it it starts.

The starter solenoid is part of the starter. As far as I know, you cannot just purchase a solenoid or swap them. I may be wrong on this, but I have never seen it before.

they sell the cylanoids on ebay, and the cylanoid is the same part number for a 89si as it is for a 91 integra. i already have my old one so might as well try it, its free

*****, i was thinking about the motor itself. those are a nightmare if you try to take them apart. the solenoid however should not be that difficult to replace.
