Default Ghetto Paint Job: Roller or Spray Can?

Alright,

I'm gonna do a ghetto temporary Paintjob on my EF so that it's all one color for now. I'm going with white. I've always used spray cans when doing a job like this, but I've heard of people using a roller. I thought that was kinda funny but I'm wondering if anyone's done it and if it's easy to make look half decent or if i should just stick with what i know and spray bomb it.

Here is a link to step by step someone did, for some reason the pics don't work but here is the link to the photobucket that does still work.

Looks like a really good job, but what you get out of it, will be how much effort and time you put into making it nice.

It doesn't mean that since it's not a $4000 paint job that it's "ghetto".

If you're going with white, why not just primer it white for now.

Then save up some money for a decent paint job, good luck.

That was more of my plan, i'm not planning on gloss white. I can never find white primer around here though. It's always really off white, like a grey color.

if you go 50 dollar paint job and you want to repaint you car it will be a big pain you will need to sand down to the metal and primer it. why dont you just save up money and take it to macco

I went rattle can white on my 91 ef-9,looks as good as macco.it just depends on your paint choice.Just remember you get what you pay for,I used Dupli-Color Truck,Van,And SUV Linen White at $7 a can it took 8 cans and looks like a legit paint job.just read up about auto paint and take your time tapeing/removing parts and do your prep work.sanded cleaned and dried
good luck and post pics when ur done.

I'm gonna go with spray can. I've done it a hundred times before. They always turn out ok. Never showroom or anything, but good enough. I'm not looking to restore the car, it's just gonna be a fun stiff street car. I'll definitely get some before and after pictures up.

I bet the guy who said you can't paint over Rustoleum didn't let it dry for 2 weeks. It took a while for my $50 paint job to dry

ive been telling people this since day 1 of that ridiculous 50 dollar paint job bullcrap. It will have to be totally stripped for any shop or person to guarantee it and get a quality finish. we charge alot to totally strip a car and then etch prime it once its down to metal. If your ever wanting to get a nice paint job on your car, i repeat. do not, do not do the 50 dollar paint job unless your wanting to pay even more later on. The solvents, cleaners, and catalysts in real automotive materials just destroy any of that crap.

here you go you might have missed that

I read that, as well as most of the thread. I still do not see where he said how long he let the paint dry. Are you missing my point here?

id does not matter how long you let it dry if you are going to repaint it and the primer does not stick guess what you going to have to sand down to the metal. if you don't then there is a possibility that the paint will react with the Rustoleum and it will try to come out to the surface. if your sealer does not work then you will be screwed.

not only that but there is also all the prep work that goes along with painting if you are going to cheap out on paint at least buy low end automotive paint.

but hey if it is a pos then go for it

Spray, i tried Rolling... it's very time consuming.

Ended up sanding down to primer and shooting Rustoleum through a Harbor Freight gun.

i was planning on using the roller but its too time consuming and i dont have the time so i might just end up doing the spray can since my car cant look any worse.
