2001 Honda Odyssey LX
I was thinking of getting this vehicle but heard that for 2001 there were recalls from Honda for this van. Would anyone be able to check to see if this vehicle had the transmission changed yet? I have the VIN#: 2HKRL18521H511492.
Looking for detailed information regarding this vechicle (been in wreck, timing belt changed, etc)
Thanks!

If the transmission had been replaced with a remanufactured unit then you would be able to see a small canister type ATF filter in the return line located under the battery tray. Or you could call America Honda with the VIN# and ask for recalls (there are none), extended warranty work (transmission replacement care of Honda) and how many owners.
If you want way too much info on the 2001 (which I own) then you can do some reading here: http://www.odyclub.com/forums/showth...664#post384664

Thanks for the info. Apparently the owner said that the transmission was rebuilt through his company (who rebuilds transmissions). Do I still need to look for the ATF filter if Honda didn't do the work? If not, can you let me know what other signs to look for. I checked with Honda already and the transmission has not been replaced in this vehicle in the last 3 years (according to their records). Any help is greatly appreciated!
No idea if non-Honda shop installs an ATF filter after a replacement. Probably not there. If the transmission craps out again, you will not get much sympathy/goodwill from Honda's Extended Warranty program for the transmission. $$$ Caveat emptor.
