Starting Problem
My 1995 civic has an intermittent problem where it won't start. When I turn the key in the ignition I have full power, and all light on the dash, yet it will just click. It acts like when the clutch saftey switch is not depressed. I wired around the switch thinking that that would fix the problem, yet the problem persists. Some times when the engine does not turn over it with emit a high pitch tone. Any idea's what is causing this?
A bad main relay and ECU will not prevent the starter from cranking the engine.
OP: If the large black wire connected to the starter and coming directly from the battery has battery voltage and the ground wire that connects the engine to the transmission is clean and tight, then your starter is almost surely toast, as mentioned by others.
