Default ASR Subframe Brace

I have a rear ASR 24mm anti-roll bar on my EK9 with adjustable ASR endlinks and its been amazing on the car!

But I have just bought the ASR subframe brace from Password JDM and I cant get it to fit? the long bolt doesnt seem to be long enough. Does anyone have any pics of fitted to there EK? or a write up they can show me.

thanks

Your car really doesnt need an ASR brace bro. Your subframe is stiff enough to handle the load.

But if you just want it for looks, get longer bolts.

i really question this. its also no help since he already has the asr

you sure the bolt isnt hitting anything and that youre using the right bolts in the right places?

I double checkd that as I thought it may be hitting something but I dont think so. It just once the small bracket is lined up on the brace the bolt is like 2mm too short. I have contacted the supplier in the states to see they may have sent me the wrong kit. I will get pics up to show you. thanks

Yeah...no. A bar that large in diameter will tear up that rear end rather quickly if the OP is driving quite hard. Those rear LCA mounts have proven time and time again to crack and tear when mated with large sway bars.

Isnt the EK9 rear subframe thicker than the non Type R. Thats probably why it doesnt fit. EK9 has already been reinforced from the factory.

Did you remove the stock swaybar brackets from the car?

Measure the additional length you need for the brace and then add it to the length of the original bolt.

But he wants to run the 24mm bar. There is nothing wrong with piece of mind as long as you can get it to work.

Yes that true,

but it will be very difficult to find these bolts

metric format, fine threaded, longer than 110mm

Not entirely true.

If the OP was in the US or Canada, he could go to his local Fastenal to find that bolt. I work for Fastenal and it would take me about 2 days to source a metric bolt to fit that. They wouldn't be cheap but they'd work out for him.

Sorry been busy the last few days. In the end I couldnt get the ASR brace to fit as my Tanabe exhaust would be fowling the ARB. Like I already stated 2 bolts were too short, but that wouldnt have been a prob as I could have got longer ones made by my mate who works in a power station. But I do not wish to modify my exhaust to make it fit so I sent it back to the supplier.

The subframe on the ek9 looks much stronger so I shouldnt have a prob. We put it next to my mates EK4 and EG and the EK9 subframe was much bigger! It was more for looks anyway! thanks for your help!

Yea they do but when I bought the car, the guy had upgraded to the 24mm ASR ARB.

thats what I was thinking but I dont think there is anything I can do now as I do not wish to modify my tanabe exhaust and I dont want to change to an Amuse or Apexi exhaust which goes under the LCA.

my mate that works at a power station can make any size, metric format, thread for me.

the asr brace will fit the EK9 but you would need longer bolts and stock exhaust or one that goes under the LCA like amuse, HKS or Apexi!

Could you get a pic of the subframe on your EK9 for comparisons sake? I just want to see how much thicker it is compared to the other EK's. Thanks

very nice, I retract my previous statement about the shitty subframe. There are a lot of folks on here that will refer to their US hatchbacks as an EK9. well, I'm sure you have your answer by now. Cheers
