If you had to get rid of your R...
Wondering if there are any other cars that 'compare' to the R in terms of its feel and performance.
Im looking around at other cars, but I don't think I can get the fun factor, reliability, and feel of the R all in one car...
Basically asking if you HAD to get rid of your R, what car would you get instead to replace it?

I thought the E46 M3 was a pretty solid replacement (when it wasn't broke). Probably the most balanced car between performance and luxury you could ask for.
With hindsight being 20/20 I was quick to figure out you can't ask for a better car than a type r. So I got another one

There just isn't anything comparable in it's price range. I went to the darkside for a while and built a turbo teg also which was fun. All of the Integras that I've owned were purely toys really, although I have daily driven a couple of them. For day to day stuff I prefer something more refined.
The Cadillac CTS I daily drive is a nice car but there are some things I find massively frustrating about it. I owned a 300M for a while too. 300M comfort, power, and handling owns the CTS but the styling of the CTS owns the 300M. As we know the Integra R is the best FWD car ever. I would say the 300M although a VERY different car than the R is, is the second best FWD car ever for different reasons.

Where's this SRT vs ITR thread? I've been posting this same idea in a couple forums I frequent, but the results are always 50/50. I've had my SRT for a couple of months only, and I'm kinda bored with how slow it is. The ITR would be slower, but revving to 8500rpm + rarity + handling sounds good to me. IDK. I want to test drive the ITR and see if it's the right dd for me.

My wife and I just had a baby, so I had to get rid of one of my toys... I had a 97 ITR and a 02 S2000....
I got rid of the s2k and bought a 09 SI 4 door to suit the back seat needs of a baby seat.....
After 4 months of ownership, I am very impressed w/ the car.....
There are only a few minor things I would change that would make it more R like to some extent...
Final Drive
LW Flywheel
HFP suspension, or a nice coilover setup
better tires than the all seasons that came on it
Plus w/ the new Cobb access port/Hondata, more power can be easily extracted to make up for the additional weight the SI carries over the R.
Having said all that, it will never be as raw as the ITR, but it could be a nice mix of somewhat luxo/sport, far less in cost than a Bimmer, w/ the reliability of a Honda

buying a c5 z06 once my house closes. considered the early 2000s M3 since i prefer the styling. my only grip is how expensive parts are and what it costs to mod them. which of course rolled right back to the track monster Z
It depends on what you want/need out of the car and how much you have to spend. It depends on what you desire as for looks, refinement, performance and of course image.
I needed a daily driver that would do well in the snow and all weather conditions of the North East and still be a super fun ride. I sampled the Sti and EVO, chose the EVO. It's not the same as the R. Its heavier, Much faster and with minimal mods blazingly faster still. But it doesnt have the go-cart like handling that the R does. It has great brakes for what it is, I upgraded to Ferrodo DS2500's for DD and yep they're great but the R was so light and just stopped on a dime even with stock pads and crappy tires.
The R compared to many of the cars mentioned is not apples to apples. Maybe the Lotus will provide the feel and braking etc but will murder your wallet in comparison for initial purchase cost. Its not an easily replaced car. Heck havent drivin mine since 2006 and I still wont give it up, just storing it till I have more time to mess with it. I dont care if my R isnt as fast as my EVO thats not what its all about. It has a more involved feeling that I really find hard to express in words. Its just a ****** fun car.
The MAJOR downside is the theft issue as it has always been. My EVO I have no issue leaving in Any parking lot, side street, main street, at a meter or parking garage. Hell I leave the door unlocked and windows down sometimes. Theft of these where I am is nonexistant. Theft of an R would be almost absolute given time.
