Wrong axel seal???
I just pulled my transmission and replaced the intermediate shaft seal and the passenger side axel seal and resealed my transmission because of leaks. It is leaking and spraying out of the passenger side seal now which is new. I have two ideas why. The transmission is out of a 94 B18B and I am using 90-93 axles for the swap or the axle isnt quite all the way in. I think that it is all the way in because I hear the lock ring stoping the axle from pulling out. My question is are the passenger side seals on the 90-93 and 94 and up LS transmissions different sizes?
what could be causing the leaking and spraying from the passenger side? There is a new seal and it seems that the lock ring on the axle is working. One thing that seems strange is that there seems to be a little bigger gap than I remember though. What to do?
Are you guys buying the axles seals from a parts store or Honda? All the parts stores seem to have the axle seal dimensions wrong so they sell you the wrong seal every time. Happened to me from Napa, Autozone and Advanced Auto so far.
sound femiliar. I think I was their 3 years ago just put an ls in my ef sedan with new trany input/output seals.
every time I made a quick turn (floored it onto the freeway) my car would star to smoke, after like 5 to 10 turns my 5th gear would not stay in it would pop out. I drove it for a couple days refelling the trany every day it was loosing oil quick.
for some reason I thought I had a crack in my trany but could not find it.
It couldn't be the seals they were brand new.
I desided to pull the trany, I started by pulling the axels first ofcourse. with the axels out I can start on the rest. What a bitch I thought it was to pull just the trany with out the motor, it was really tight no room to move last time I did this!!!
Before I started to pull it out, I thought let me compear, the old seals that I pulled off to go get the new ones. The old & the new match up perfect, then I walk over to the passenger axel & mid shaft slid it on & ****** FFF*^$&#^$@^@%#*^$*(%! their was a big *** gap on the mid shaft .
bla bla bla
TAKE YOUR MIDSHAFT & PASS. AXEL TO HAVE THE PART STORE MATCH THEM UP OLD SEALS TOO
their are too many seals out their !!!!
I"m now going gsr, I went to get new seals once again they were selling me the wrong part, but I cought it this time & on top off that they could not find the rite part (or #).
