Any problems with the Mugen 26mm rear sway bar??
Want to know opinions on the rear sway bar. Is it a dramatic increase in oversteer from the stock bar?-Thinking of getting the JDM 23mm bar, but dont want to waste money if I get the 23 and later find out that I should of gotten the Mugen 26 or even Mugen 24.
more oversteer. thats about it. the front bar is 24mm. the stock rear is 22mm ....
oh wait, or was it the other way around... its been a while...

hahaha.... yeah, another dent to the collection compliments of Dave.... and my OEM shocks/springs only have 80+k miles on them... mugen will own me with higher springrates.

if you are upgrading the rears to 26mm, shouldn't you be ugrading the fronts too?

yes, scary at first. you just have to learn to control it, which I haven't learned yet obviously (see dent in D's door)

You can if you want. Most wont because of the added oversteer/neutrality when adding just the 26 in the rear.

actually just because you add 26 in the front and rear does NOT give you neutrality. there may be a set of sways that will give you near neutral but i do emphasize that equal width bars in front and back does not coincide necessarily with neutrality.
edit: spelling

So, Should I just get the 26mm bar and not even think about the 23mm or 24mm??

Personally the stock ITR rear sway bar is good enough for me with some nice spring rates on the car.
thats up to you. just depends what you think you may feel more comfortable with and how comfy you are with your car.
i would go with a 24mm bar personally if i was going to change it.

I ran it for 2 weekends. Felt pretty good. No bad review from me, other than it didn't replace the endlinks w/ adjustables and costs a boatload.
I'm running a Saner bar now.

I installed the 26mm front and rear at the same time. (Was only going to do the rear but found the front bar for $100 plus my stock front and cold not resist.) Had stock bars with Mugen Lowdowns before that.
Both bars give a much more planted feel in corners than stock - body roll is something that other cars have. However, I do think it increased understeer slightly. I am going to a new coilover system soon with stiffer rear springs (the Lowdowns have the typical JDM bias to stiffer front springs) and I suspect that both bars will work better here.
With stock springs, I would suggest running only the rear bar.

Any problems with the Mugen 26mm rear sway bar??

stock = 24-22
Moogen rear bar = 24-26 $$$$
Using Honda parts = 21-23 $$
the choice is yours.

i was think that i would like to get a little more rotation from the rear and thought of upgrading to the mugen rear bar. so this would work good wid stock ITR suspension?
also i'm looking to get the autopower 4pt rollbar, so what effects if any would that have on the feel from the rear of the kaa? should stiffen it up a good bit, but will it help with the rotation issue?

JDM 23mm rear sway bar can be had for $0. (after you sell your USDM typeR bar and accessories).
I think that's a good upgrade for free.
I think that's a good upgrade for free.

I did some calculations for those geeky guys that like numbers:
New diameter ....... % Stiffer than stock 22mm
23mm................... 19.5%
26mm................... 95.0%
Seems a 23mm bar would be a pretty good upgrade for those looking for just a *tad* more neutral handling with the stock suspension. If you are going all out on the suspension, I'd say get the 26mm rear bar and have fun riding on 3 wheels.

I think the JDM rear bar goes for roughly 130 , and the civic front bars are cheap (under 50 shipped) you would need new endlinks from the dealer but I'm not sure the cost of them
check with Big Willie styles , for the money spent I dont thing this set-up can be beat

shape , design , angles , anchoring points all come into play also
the 23mm rear bar is the same design so YES it should be 19.5% stiffer BUT if the Moogen bar is shaped different that will also come into play
