would i need a new alternator and battery if i..........
im wondering if i run a 500 watt amp pushing a little 10in kicker cvr in my 1991 si hatch will i need a capacitor? Or will i be able to run my system on just my brand new battery and alternator without a cap?
And recently i ran that same system except on my old battery and alternator and my car wouldn't start after a few days.i checked the interior lights and sterio fuse and it was blow i was wondering if i ran my system on that blown fuse for a while would that cause a short some where in my wiring?

You should be able to run that amp on just your battery if the battery and charging system is in good shape(.i.e your alternator, battery cables)also it depends on how much other junk your running(.i.e gauges, leds, under glow kits, hids, basically anything your car didn't come with).Hook up the amp like normal and see if the lights dim at night when the bass hits if they do start with a good battery(interstate or optima if your budget allows)then get a new or upgraded alternator if you still have problems get a .5/1.0 farad cap.
