Default Transmission noises :(

I need help with a friends NSX who is completely incapable of working on his own car, Not because he is stupid, but he has a lack of knowledge on the car, Being my dream car he relies on my knowledge so im left with the duty.

Car runs and drives, Under load that is. But once you let off the gas you hear a whine, almost like a dog box sounds. We installed a Clutch Masters FX400 and flywheel 2 years ago, I dont feel as if this was the cause of the issue due to the length of time since the install. I took it for a ride, and it seems like an internal issue, But im not positive, id hate to pull the trans and rebuild if that's not the problem. Any suggestions?

Car is a 1991 Acura NSX with 170k miles

Hmph...I'm by no means a transmission expert but it could be bunch of various things. Don't think it'd be the snap ring problem as most of those shatter all at once.

How does it drive and shift? Crossing my fingers it's not the motor and holding my tounge on the hatch air duct too.

I drives good, I took it for a mile (there and back) I didnt get on it obviously in fear of damage. But its fine under-load, let of and its not a horrid sound but bad especially since you know its wrong, I'm really leaning towards a bearing internally based on the load characteristics

hmm..I know when my snap ring went the actual shifter would move when you let off the gas or pressed it under load. I don't remember any sounds distinctly. I would say to go to nsxprime and try to search for the symptoms. I know there is many threads related to owners and tranny problems, snap ring failures, etc, etc.

Hope this helps!
