Are Transmission Codes different from Engine Codes???
Just bought a 1994 Honda, None V-Tec engine. just did a basic tune up, sparks, cables, rotor and cap. check engine light came on today after the tune up. I got the codes: Engine code is 17 (Speed sensor) which i already knew but i also got the D4 flasing codes. I got codes 12 and 4 which i have looked up in different posts and 12 = (EGR) and 4=(CKP) but i dont know it these codes are different from engine codes? i need to know if these codes are correct transmission codes. i need help please. thanks.
p.s. The car also idled high (2000 rpm) and when i lowered the idle it felt like it wanted to cut-off.

Yes, transmission codes are different than engine code. It sounds like it most likely is the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) or the VSS harness connection.

yeah you are correct tht the engine code i got (17) is the speed sensor but what about the transmission codes (4) and (12)?? i checked them as engine codes and thats when i got the egr valve and ckp, but since you said they are different then i dont know what they mean?
In the link I post, the transmission codes are also linked. D4 with code 4 is the VSS also. Code 12 has nothing listed; but, probably is a related to the VSS. The link starts with 17,4 as part of the title.
