Default Traction Problems, need help

Im running 14psi / garrett 60 trim, on a built b16a.

I spin way too much tires launching in 1st gear, and i loose too many races because of traction problems.

What do you guys recommend?
Am i launching too hard or is it just because of the street tires?

If you want to dead hook 1st gear you should of bought a RWD Car or stayed all motor.... with that being said what tires do you run, suspension, ever had an alignment etc?

Get some 225/50/15 BFG or M/T Drag Radials (235/60/15 if your serious about this and can fit them), a suspension designed for Drag Racing (Blox, OMNI, Progress etc), and then get a good alignment and that will help alot, but anything over 200whp is going to burn tires in a FWD car in 1st gear, hell I could blow 1st gear off with my stock ITR.

Pick up a full race traction bar, and a LSD. that should help if you dont have it already. How much power are you making? I made 337whp and only spin 1st and part of 2nd.

oh i have a obx lsd too.
i have not dyno, but i think i might be close to 300hp.

i raced my friends 255whp hatch 8psi, he has traction bar and toyo proxies tires, and he leaves me really bad in 1st gear!

i have 6 more psi, and he wins!

I can blow off the tires through 1st gear in my 91' LX (D15B2)... nothing like dumping the clutch at 6,000 RPMs.

OP get tires and learn how to set the tire pressure to your driving habits. Also you probably need to learn how to launch a car either that or have launch control setup. I have a built B16 running 15 psi and I can launch (standard tires 195/60's or whatever they are) and barely spin the tires until boost hits then all hell breaks loose going through the gears. If you are spinning them from the start then you are launching at way too high of a RPM.

As far as tire sizes go you didn't say what kind of car you have.

Tires, proper suspension, and learning to modulate your throttle.

You will never get grip if you try to floor your way through first.

Dead stops are just not a powerful FWD cars best game.

hi:

Get a APEX'i AVCR boost controller and/or a www.full-race.com's Traction Bar and a 1-way or 1.5 way L.S.D., upgraded all of your bushing to www.energysuspension.com.

Good luck ...

like everyone has said get traction bar. Also possbily drag radials. With even 6pounds of boost on my B18B first gear traction was a JOKE. Keep practicing your launch.

lol.......not being a dick, but flat out, learn to drive. Thats what it all comes down to, learn to ease off the pedal until the car hooks, no stomping to the floor, or pedaling, just ease off until it hooks.....Other that than u need to pre-load, pull the e-brake up, then slip the clutch until the car starts to move, and hold it there until u leave, and slip the clutch just as slow as you drop the e-brake, and that bitch WILL HOOK....

only way to hook without spinning on a FWD turbo car is to run slicks. I spin through every gear except 5th & 6th gear in my car. Pretty annoying actually.

I notice a lot of guys in the U.S. don't use the 1-way or 1.5way Clutch type LSDs because of the expense and availability of the special oils that they use. the clutch style LSDs are best suited for road racing. IF they are used to drag race (with the exception of certain models) the clutches do break causing a lot of problems.

That sucks... I have more power than you and straight dead hook 3rd gear every time with little 205 tires. Its all in the power band, weight etc.

That is because the RSX suspension is shitty, the car is heavy and the 05-06' RSX with the extremely short gearing sucks. I am running a bit more power than whats listed in my sig though. The 400whp was at low boost because my fuel system was clogged (picked up a bad batch of gas on the way to my tuner which is 5 hrs away so I couldn't redo the fuel system before dyno time). Since then we have cleaned up the fuel system, upped the boost and did alot of tweaking. The car is making at least 425-450 minimum. I also just went with much wider tires (255/35R18) coupled with the longer gearing I just installed and the LSD I am hoping to hook better.
