Default HELP!!! TPS code 7

Ok, I have read countless post of other guys having problems with their TPS and most of them got answers like checking the TPS with a voltmeter. I understand that it should read around 0.5 volts with the throttle fully shut and 4.5 volts at wide open throttle.

I have a 94 Civic EX Coupe and I just dropped in a obd2 B18C. I am using the original obd1 harness and the wires on the TPS are yellow/white, red/blue, and green/white. I checked all the wires with a voltmeter as instructed with a Haynes repair manual and am getting no readings at all. I have swapped out TPS's and still am getting 0.00 volts. Any suggestions?

I have heard of guys flip flopping some of the wires. Is this something I need to do since it's an obd2 motor in an obd1 car and obd1 harness? The car fires right up, but couldnt really tell you how it runs because this is my 1st B series and I have nothing to compare to.

Any help would really be appreciated, thank you in advance!

The wiring for the TPS on an obd1 or obd2 b series motor is the same. You should not have to alter anything. Possible you mixed up the map sensor plug and tps plug?

Also, if you are running obd2 motor, you can run the obd2 engine harness...single plug distributor, way cleaner.

I got a 94 cx with a 99 gsr swap, thats how i did mine.

Hope this helps!

I double checked the TPS and MAP sensor and I'm pretty sure I dont got em plugged in wrong. Just to be safe, I flip flopped em and the car fired up, but sounded like ****. I double checked according to the Haynes manual and i had it right originally. Again, the wires on the TPS are yellow/white, red/blue/ and green/white. The wires on the MAP sensor are yellow/red, green/white, and white.

Instead of using obd2 harness, I swapped out whatever plugs I needed to like the injectors and the alternator. As far as the dizzy, I just swapped it out with an obd1 dizzy all together.

Like I had said, it seams to run ok. the only other CEL I'm getting is #41 and I think I just need to get a new O2 sensor to fix that.

Anyone else got any ideas on the code #7?

its possible that your TPS is just bad. Did you hit it agaisnt the firewall at all while dropping in the motor? I damaged my TPS both times that I put the motor in my car. They are like $10-20 on ebay. Just get a new one and it should fix teh problem.

Its worth a try even though I did try both the original one that came with the motor as well as a BLOX one that is brand new.

it both throws the same code? Then its possible that one of the wires on your harness is bad and the TPS isnt getting the proper voltage. When I first was running my Chipped P28 on a OBD2-OBD1 Conversion harness, there was a problem with the harness and the MAP wasnt getting any power. So it was reading 10PSI of boost all the time, when I took it to the tuner we got that fixed and put it on the 2bar map. So its possible that your wire is broken or damaged and therefore your not getting the proper voltage to your TPS.

Yeah, both a the stock TPS and a brand new BLOX TPS are throwing code 7. I'll try and check all the wires real good to see if any are broken.
