Traction when boosted 500whp
Hi All,
Ive had many Honda's here in the UK but have all been N/A. And since i went to the dark side with my EVO IX FQ340 running 420hp, which was stolen a while ago, i tried going back to Vtec N/A, but it didnt work.
So ive bought a Honda Accord Type R 1999 Year, and were building it to 500whp.
My concern is traction, and there are not many people in the UK with HP Boosted Vtec's in the UK, but there are loads on here, so hopefully you guys can help.
Im hoping to get 235/45/17 tyres on i think thats as wide as i can go.
When the engine's out we will be adding extra welds in the engine bay, dropping the subframe off, put it in a jig or brace and then stitch weld it up.
The front radius rods that hang off the subframe, solid bearing instead of rubber. http://www.mckinneyraceworks.com/cat...hp?cPath=21_33
Poly bushes for the ARBs.
Welding around the suspension pick-ups
Brace for the upper turrets AND the lower chassis points.
Will this be enough or will i still spin up all the time? Is there anything else i can do to help traction?
Many Thanks
Jay

OEM LSD is ok but Mfactory is better. Boost by gear is going to be your best bet. You can program it through a Hondata S300 ecu along with their boot controller.
Hi Rob, thanks. We were planning on using AEM management or Link G4. Do you know if that can be done via AEM? If thats the case might have to differ to S300.
Thanks

Thanks

AEM does not have boost by gear but it does have other methods of boost control like VSS Boost, which is what I am using this year it works just as well once you get it set up.

What's the predominate use of the car?
Road, track, drag racing?
If you plan to use this as a road car with 500hp on Uk streets I wish you luck.
If however you plan on running 500 at a track (drag) then there are plenty of options.
You really need to surf a little harder as there are many boosted vtec's in the UK and more information than you'll ever need.
Your question is fairly basic and been asked many times on most forums, so information is available backed up with real world experience.
Look at ATB, full race traction bars, a good suspension set-up, boost by gear etc etc etc
