Default Necessary to change H20 pump when changing timing belt?

Hey guys, I'm changing a timing belt on a friend's '95 RS, he bought a brand-spanking new water pump to change when I change the timing belt... I'm pretty sure they don't go bad really, should I take the time and drain the coolant or just say FUGGIT?

replace it. its not really a matter of the breaking as much as leaking water and **** everywhere then causing you to be low on coolent.
if you got one do it, just cheap insurance
