Yet another LSvtec Turbo build, heres the catch, the donor car has a tranny with 232K miles, the car has no damage, it was babied by an old lady, never raced, always taken to the dealer for maintenacnce the entire life of the vehicle....
question is to trust the tranny for the build, or get another one....
dont know how long the tranny will last......
dont know if the increased HP will have a quick ending to its life......
no grinds, no pop outs, feels solid when i drive it....

Well... If you dont use the high mileage tranny you have to get another one. If you do use it, it may last it may not.. Then you may have to get another one anyway. But if the high mileage one takes a crap do you really feel like taking it back out and putting another tranny in the car?
Just something to think about

Mechanically if the tranny is fine then don't worry about it. It's a **** tranny for gearing anyway so if you break it, get something better. If you can do ls/v and turbo a car, a tranny swap in the future (if/when it breaks) isn't that hard.
Depending on the power goals, an LS tranny is usually better for the longer gearing. 1st and 2nd gears in the LS and GSR are the same ratios.
I suggest getting an MFactory magnetic drain plug, and running GM/Penzoil SyncroMesh, or RedLine MTF with the friction moddifiers.
