Post 91 Accord crank pulley tool no fit

1991 Accord EX, F22A4. I bought the crank pulley tool to change the timing belt and the metal on the wheel well extends low enough to prevent me from fitting the tool in. I have both front wheels up. What am I doing wrong?

You can just loosen the motor mount nut and bolt to drop the engine just enough so the tool will fit. Once you get the crank bolt out you're going to have to remove the mount to replace the belt. Use a board under the oil pan with a jack to support the engine. Be aware that you may need a breaker bar and a 5 to 6 ft pipe to loosen the crank bolt. Also, I would suggest that you replace the water pump as well.

For what it's worth.

as stated above, with a jack and piece of wood under the oil pan loosen the driver side motor mount and lower that side of the engine enough to get the tool in place.
