Default Valve cover painting

My valve cover has a ugly chip in it and I have to take it off tomorrow anyway so I figured I would paint it. Does anyone know of a nice red similiar to the ITR cover red?

I have never found one in an Engine or spray paint. You COULD get the color code from the dealer, no ?

Yes, VHT Wrinkle Plus Red paint (SP-204). You can go to my webpage at http://www.geocities.com/bretq/Valve...tructions.html for instructions for painting a valve cover.

Here is a picture of my paint valve cover.

I want to have the wrinkle effect like the stock black paint has. Is that possible? Yours looks kinda smooth no?

And, I can't just paint over my black paint because there is a like quarter sized chip in the paint like right in front. Is there an easy way to removing the paint?

That looks good. If you paint over the black it'll still have that wrinkly crackly look to it. The question I have is, once you paint it, how did you get the "DOHC VTEC" and the "Honda Motor CO" to show up. Nail polish remover? HA J/K

i did mine like that...

i got the words to show up with 2 different methods...

1. you can take a crayon and rub it all over the parts you don't want paint on...this way the paint sticks to the wax and you can scrap it off.

2. a better way is if you have a dremel you can just take it right off then polish it.
this works pretty well and looks good.

The VHT wrinkle paint will give the same wrinkle effect just like the stock black paint. The flash on the camera caused the front edge of the valve to appear smooth and shinny, but the paint is nearly identical in color and finish to the actual Type-R red valve cover.

And, I can't just paint over my black paint because there is a like quarter sized chip in the paint like right in front. Is there an easy way to removing the paint?
The VHT wrinkle paint may or may not cover up the chip sufficiently. If you are concerned that it won't, then you can strip the valve cover before painting it.

I applied a thin coat of Vasoline on all exposed letters that I did not want to paint. After the paint had dried, I took a razor blade and removed the paint from letters. I also used a little paint thinner on a Q-Tip clean letters to remove any paint which was not removed by the razor blade.

when tightening the bolts back up again and for taking them off do it in this order:
(each number represents the nut/bolt order)

7------------------------------5

------3----------------1-------

------4----------------2-------

8-----------------------------6

1. What is aircraft stripper and where can I purchase it?

2. Same as above, replace "aircraft stripper" with "VHT Wrinkle Paint".

3. Color code for question #2.

well boys u are all lucky.......i just redid my whole VC......And it looks Great! Heres is what i did.
1)Took the 8 screws on that hold the VC on.
2)Applied Graffiti Remover.....and all the Black Wrinkle Paint came off.
3)Get the soap that you use to clean your car.....and Clean off all the Residue and what not.
4)Put Vasaline in the HONDA MOTOR Co. If you dont want it the color you are painting the car.
5)You put about 6 coats on of the Paint...i used Dupli-Color High Heat Ceramic..1200°. The color was Red(DH1608)
6)You put into oven about 15-30 mins on 350°.
7)Let it sit for about 20 mins.
8)Take a Razor blade and remove the vasaline that was on the letters.
9)Put back together and your done.

here are pics:
http://www.geocities.com/oneslysi99/ValveCover.html
