idk how you can check wires other than the spark plug simply not firing.

when you rev it, or sometimes at idle. is smoke coming from your exhaust? if its blue or white one of those, i believe some fuel isnt getting burnt, so you might be misfiring, but you would get a CEL for that.

if your getting bad mpg, it just may be time for a full tune up anyways

you can use a digital multimeter and check the resistance in the wire. just stick one lead from the meter to one end of the wire and the other lead to the other end. make sure your meter's on ohms. the reading should be rather low. you can get a cheap multimeter at most hardware stores

go outside when its dark and mist a little water on the wires start it up and see if you see any sparks they will be blue, I knew mine needed to be changed when I touched them while my car was running and got shocked...lol

the idle screw is on your throttle body, turn your car on and turn the screw both ways and see which works, i cant remember off the top of my head which way.

^ Or run the car and listen to the idle. Then with the car still running, mist water on the wires and listen for an idle change. If there's a change in the idle, then the wires are bad.

thecruzs2007 - I wouldn't mess with the idle screw until you check for other problems first. If you play with the idle screw first, and then later on fix the real issue, your idle is going to be off from adjusting it.

last time i check this isnt a carburetor civic the iacv will just re adjust it back into the same spot.. check your plugs they are the man-ly version of using your own dignostics. if they are saturated in gas your not sparking. how old are your wires
