You don't need to sand it...
just remember to get high temp paint... anything over 750F should be availble at your local automotive store.

i didnt sand mine.
actually i did apply primer though.
either way i cleaned it off with brake cleaner first.
then applied all paint by paintbrush at a very painful rate.
NEVER AGAIN!

1. Remove wheels (obviously!).
2. Get an 'air gun' & clean everything with that.
3. Spray the caliper (while attached) with neat & tidy strokes.
DON'T worry about any small amount of 'over spray' on the brake disc (unless you're really silly!); as it will simply rub/burn off during driving.
Good luck....
does it matter if its high heat paint or regular?

don't know if that's good advice. brake dust can be very harmful if the pads contain asbestos. Helms manual cautions against using air to clean off brake parts.

Obviously if you know your 'pads' have a high asbestos content, then you may have to think twice?!Eitherway - like with any 'spraying' etc....one should wear the appropriate 'safety' gear (ie mask in this instance)!
this will do??and how should i paint the center cap part? i have rota shitstream and i see rust there~ how can i remove rust and paint?
thank you
get some japanese stuff
What then....is 'sanding' going to be any less dangerous??

Obviously if you know your 'pads' have a high asbestos content, then you may have to think twice?!most brake pads shouldn't contain asbestos, as far as I know, but you never know with some parts you buy.
any method that keeps the dust particles from getting airborn is preferred to keep from getting inhaled. wiping it down with a solvent soaked rag or even a dry rag is better.

I'm off to work now, given it is now 10:09am (on the East coast of Australia)....it's a good thing that I live/work in the Melbourne CBD and have <10 mins walk to work!! he he he

Cool, I'm glad we agree on that....

Remove them, hold them off to the side with your hand or a wire and spray them down with some bbq spary paint... works like a charm. Just don't touch them when they are done because it will rub off untill its baked on by the heat of the brakes
It will still come off, the dealer that cleaned my car used a pressure cleaner and this happened. The red circles are something else (where I took a die grinder the them
)

I haven't tried this myself, but this stuff seems to be what you want to use. G2 brake caliper paint. It has two different components that you mix together and then apply to your calipers. Kinda like JB weld. This stuff isn't supposed to ever come off. If you use it let me know how it goes.
