Alright people. I have just acquired a 91 Honda Accord 2Dr. From my uncle. And i don't really have any paper work at all like pink slip ect. But i do have half the title (haha). And a copy of the info from the previous owner like his DL's. But I never got a bill of sale packet? But I had made sure this car was NOT stolen, i already checked with the dmv ect. So what i need your guys's input for is,to decide whether i need to part this thing out or what because with no paper work this thing is literally useless unless I play derby with it. But that would be a waste of a genuine Honda now wouldn't it? So i was thinking about just posting up a thread on here with all of the good and not ****ed up parts i have. Dash,Mirrors,Engine,Engine Sensors,Tranny You get the point. And part it out and then get rid of the chassis and the left over junk you know?

So help me guys. I need your two cents and opinions on this.

 

Why not file for a lost title with DMV?

 

If the car is in good shape, you might consider getting the car retitled. I believe each state has a slightly different process. You'd have to ask the DMV about the process though, as I really don't know what all is involved.

Whether or not you want to part out the car depends on a couple things. What kind of shape is the car in? How many useable parts do you expect to get out of it? Is it worth it to you to part it out, knowing that selling the parts may take many weeks, and that you may not even sell all the usable parts? Also keep in mind that you need a place to disassemble the car, since most deed restrictions (depending on your area) don't allow for it.

IF you decide to part it out, please make sure you post it in the correct places. It either needs to be in the FS/WTB forum or in the FS thread at the top of this forum. Do not start a new thread here in the Accord forum w/o first getting approval from a moderator, and that's IF they allow it.

Thanks for all of the feedback and replies guys. I think i am going to try and get it retitled. That sounds best. Because it is in pretty good shape. I will keep you all updated.

 

Best of luck, getting a car retitled doesnt always cancel the original title.
Whoever holds the original title can go back and say that although you are the registered owner, that they are the legal owners... and that you still owe them money.

Well *****s,this is what happened. I got fed up with all of the missing paper work and bullshit problems with the car. And after the couple months that I had the piece,my uncle ended up with out a car. So I sold it back to him. And on the way to go drop it off. I was doing 80mph down a hill in the middle of nowhere and the lights and engine completely cut out! With the bad brake problems it had it took me awhile to stop the car. Yeah I almost died. So after I went through all of the troubles getting it back to him he gets pulled over by three cops with their guns out telling him to get out of the car. It ended up being stolen somehow. And he had proof he didn't steal it which was the bill of sale. And he got out of jail 3 days later. Haha.

So thats the story behind that nightmare.
