Since comptech doesn't make a MIG welded header for my Si and the TIG welded header costs too much. Would a comptech 4-2-1 MIG header for the 97-01 Type R work? A few people on here said it might, just wondering if anyone else knows anything. Thanks...

why wouldn't it?? just probably hangs a little lower then if it was made for a b16..why do you want to waste money on that just buy a jdm 4-1 or dc jdm 4-1

when I talked with comptech... They mentioned the GSR and Si being able to fit the same header... The Type R header is to long

I will see this weekend if it fits in mine. My brother just got one and I see if I can put it on my car to see if it fits.

 

My Reason for thinking it would fit is this.

When I have a Customer with a 99 SI or an ITR Using a JDM ITR Header they BOTH use the SAME Length cat. And the Cats for the USDM Setup on both are the same specs. Leads me to believe its the same fitness wise.

 

This is why I'm thinking it would. I have a JDM 4-1 on my car. The carsound 94006 is the same one for the ITR. 2nd I know someone that bougt a Kamakazi header that was made for ITR bolted up perfectly to 00Si. That's all I know.

Looks like there's a pretty good chance that the header will fit

It should fit no problems. A GSR header is a different length than the SI and Type R.

Why would the del Sol and Si necessarily be the same? They are two separate chassis, regardless of the motor up front.

 

because the Mugen header I bought for the del sol was ment for the 2000 and earlier Civic Si's

 

Why change the manifold specs when the only thing different is the back of the car?

 

 

Good point! I bought a DC header a long time ago, and I now remember the applications listed on the box.

"No, it will NOT fit. Thanks." -short but sweet ...hey?

Part of me just wants to cross my fingers and try the Comptech ITR 4-2-1, but I really have an urge to just get the OEM ITR header and a Carsound High Flow Cat. Thats just alot more money than I planned on spending.

see?.... that's what they told me also, but judging from the picture I took... there is a good chance that it will fit.

Two things may make it not so:
-The cat could be to long like a GSR's
-The primaries may be off a little (But I thought the Type R and B16A share the same head?)

FWIW All B series heads have the same exhaust ports.

yeah, that does sound awfully fishy of them, since it will bolt up just fine...

 

hmm...the lengths are the same, the only difference is the bolt pattern on the flanes. They are turned 90degrees. I'm sure it will fit length wise, but the problem seems to be the cat bolting up, but that's nothing a muffler shop can't fix for $20.
