2000 SI problems!
hi i have a 2000 si with a few problems.
my first problem is starting the car. in the morning or if i havent driven the car for more than like 5 hours the car is incredibly hard to start. it turns over fine but wont catch, when it does i have to floor it and hold it at about 4000 rpms till it will run steady, also i have aftermarket MSD fuel injectors and some one told me that it might be that they are flooding the engine while it sits, but i dont see why holding the gas in makes it catch. i know the car needs some tuning but if any one else has some sujjustions that would be great.
my second problem is that i do not think my VTEC is kicking in. i recently replaced the block, it was set up when i bought it with a b18a1 block in it but it went bad so i replaced it with the same block. but now it seems my vtec doesnt kick in. i have an aftermarket ECU and injectors, throttle body, intake manifold, and a few other minor things. i am just confused as to why it was working before and now its not when i only changed the block. im not sure if there is some electronic cable out of place or something.... any help would be greatly apreciated!!!

You probably plugged in the CTS and the VTEC connectors wrong. They are the same plug...so you probably plugged them into each other. As in you probably plugged the CTS plug into the VTEC solenoid and the VTEC plug into the CTS.
**CTS = coolant temp sensor.
The reason you can start the car after holding the pedal to the ground is because that introduces air into the mixture. It's a way to clear out flooding. You have MSD injectors that are larger than stock but with no tuning? That's a big issue there.
If the CTS has the wrong plug plugged into it, it will read -40 degrees and flood the F out of the engine. The fact that you have bigger injectors in there is probably making it worse.
Is the car throwing codes?
Also check that the MAP and TPS plugs aren't plugged into each other.
On a side note: Why do you have bigger injectors and an aftermarket ECU? Does the engine actually have major internal work done or did you just assume that a river of fuel is the answer? You can run a LS-VTEC on stock injectors with like...a stock GSR or B16 or ITR ECU or something along those lines.

The fuel pump supplies volume, not pressure. Pressure is regulated by the FPR. You'd have to supply a SHITLOAD of volume to overwhelm the FPR and increase pressure in the rail. Even if you had a 255lph pump in there, the FPR would be able to regulate....so...I doubt the fuel pumping system is the issue unless you have a fuel pump in there that's meant for a rocket ship and/or a FPR that's jammed shut.

You can get a haynes manual at Autozone for $20. Sounds like you may need one anyway. It has a lot of good info and trouble shooting tips.
Again...is the car throwing any CELs?

do you hear your fuel pump prime when you turn your key to the power position? if its not priming corretly or long enough there is not enough fuel for the initial kick and start-up
