Need an Opinion
Question I have been thinking about what do with the future of my car.
89 lude Si 5 spd. Very good shape but the car is from the north so the undercarriage has the usual corrodings going on.
In a about a year im either going to do one of two things
1) Dump a Sh*tload of money into the lude and total restore it and add a few mods it.
2) of course, get a new car. the new car being either a 6spd v6 accord coupe or an rsx-s
So i was wondering what you guys would do. granted i love my lude its just an old car and i dont know if its worth dumping thousands of dolors for a total restoration or use that money for a down payment on something new.
just want some other 3g fans .02

I say
and get the RSX type-S you'll be happier and chick will be like "Nice car, wanna have sex?"
And I'm not just saying get the RSX just cus. I had a 93 year car, and I saved up to get a 98 Prelude, I'm much happier now than I was with the POS 93 car.

i had an 89 si lude..... tried fixing it up... failed miserably because i could only put universal parts such as exhaust.... sold it... bought a 92 si lude... best thing i ever did..get a 92+ lude...

HEY GUYS KEEP THE POSTS COMING IN
im actually quite surprised by the first two replies ive received.
now to answer the quote, and i know ill just get flamed for this, but ive never liked the 4th gen preludes, my own opinion. it has just always felt like it wasnt the same car as the other preludes, much much different body, larger blind spots. ugly dash with horrid electonic gauges. and the whole interior of the car didnt feel like a honda. button placement wasnt very functional and it felt way too cramped. i did however enjoy the power and handling but i need more from a car, the whole package so to speak.
so flame if you must but id really apreciate it if the thread could just stay on the topic.
thanks

And word on the street is that this forum has a lot of 4th geners on it so be carefully, I think they're in denial.

hehe I agree no matter how much you spend restoring the car it won't be the same as a brand new car... but if the car has any sentimental value maybe just keep it, but save money for the new car.... and keep it as a spare car... its not like you would get that much for it anyways
i actually didnt like the 4th gen either that much... then i wanted a car i can fix up... i didnt want a civic (too many people have it) didnt want an integra (again... too many people had it. wasnt original) and didnt want a celica or anything besides a honda.... and i also couldnt afford a 5th gen... so i decided to go with a 4th gen... now i love it to death... this car will be buried next to me... trust me... u wont like the 4th gen till u own one!

now onto the bulk:
i'd say this.. if u can afford a new car.. get one. old news always coz hassles.
there's something to be said with driving a new car with new technology. sure the payments hurt... but if it was my choice between a beater 89 ( sorry
- i'm juss taking revenge for the 4th gen lude comments...
).get the rsx and u'd love it. else a ITR might be good too. i'm not a fan of the new to-be accord shape. too pedestrian... even worst than the 5th gen.
. DUCK.
I love my 4th gen, every last part of it, even down to the digital dash, anyways if i had to pick one of those three choices, i wouldn't pick any. but if i had to, i would go with the new accord (245hp), but after market products would be hard to come by, if u even had the money after your payments. go with 4th or 5th gen Lude, or ITR.
Hey..no mods for the 3.gen???
-well i found an engine swap to the H22a..
-The car is lighter than the 4.gen so the 3.gen is going to blow the 4.gen..
-And you will have an mouch special car,and not a car anyone else have.
-So it`s your choice.
But i love the looks of an clean 3.gen Prelude better
than the newer looks of Honda.
good look for the search

I HATE 5 POSTS IN 24 HOURS ITS ******* RETARDED!!!
Umm I hope you're not confusing the 5th gen and the 4th gen cus you don't answer my quote all that well, But anyways I have the same view as you do on the 4th gen, and so does Car and Driver mag I remember that when the 5th gen came out they praised it for having much better styling than the 4th gen both inside and out.

no im not confusing the 4th and 5th gen, you said you had a 93 which is 4th gen. sorry if i was unclear on that. as for the other 4th geners that are posting, thanks for the non flaming and i respect that you love that. i have a friend that has one and i like riding in it, i just personally dont want to own one.
and for 3 gen lude. h22a sounds cool, but im in la and 3rd gens arent unique, they are a dime a dozen here. if i still lived in ohio where i was one of two people with a lude i might consider it. as for ITRs, im not a huge fan of those either, tey are great cars and the exterior is nice, but i dont like the waterfall dash design at all. and as for a 5th gen lude. i would consider it, but ive owned a prelude. so who knows we'll see, ive been leaning towards getting a new car in a year. its sad cause a prelude had always been my dream car, and ive only owned this one for such a short time. but newer and more powerful are just more appealing right now. my first car was a 1985 bimmer 528 and i loved the hell out of that car. i think an RSX-s or especially the new accord 6spd would be getting back to that sport/luxury feeling. but please keep the posts coming i love hearing your thoughts. if i dont post replies right away its cause of the stupid posting limits.

i just noticed u live in glendale..... i do too..... do u have white rims? i've seen a 89 w/ white rims all the time on glenoaks... btw... if ur ever on glenoaks fri or sat nights u cant miss me... i have a black 4th gen w/ Team Illusion stickers on my back windows.... and a license plate reading FAT LUDE .... aight man... see ya around and welcome to glendale!
yeah dude im in glendale. i live like 4 blocks from glenoaks, so where on the oaks do you hang? i dont have white rims, i have red lude with the crappy wheel covers. my car is stock and i dont race it. only thing that my distinguish my car is my muffler (and it is stock) is black with angled off chrome tips. other then that pretty basic and boring. if i ever see you round ill give you a shout out.
i think im gonna run out of my retarded 5 posts soon. if you want click on the link to my wrecked accord and there will be a link to my email. anywho. im at pacific and wilson and its a red 89 prelude with tinted windows. like i said nothing to make the car stand out other then the muffler is black with chrome tips, oh and the rear liscence plate doesnt have a frame around it. i bought the car in ohio after i flipped the accord. i was selling hondas at the time and one of my fellow salesmen was selling the car for his son so i snatched it up. you'll know its me if you see a dude with a totally shaved head and go-tee behind the wheel. ill try and get some pics of my car up on my site at some point.
The best thing you can do is drive all three cars and pick the one thats fits you like a glove. I own a 5th gen type SH and I love the HELL out of this car. But I also drove the RSX-S and I love that too, almost to the point where I wish I had that instead. Yet to drive the Accord V6 MT, but I will and so should you. However, I wouldn't be a true Prelude owner if I didn't advise you to stay in the Prelude family.
PS: since 99.999% of ludes you can buy now are used you will save some dough on the financing, unless you find one hanging around a random dealership.

ive driven and rsx-s and loved the hell out of it. and i will drive a mt v6 accord as soon as they come out in 5-6 months. as for staying in the family, i may. but like i said before ive owned a prelude, and why buy a fifth gen when i can get something faster, and a little more luxurious. ill always love the prelude no doubt. and if honda ever does return the car to the line up ill be the the first one to go even deeper in debt to own it (unless ive already paid off whatever im driving at the time). but for now its between the those two choices.

I don't have the digital dash, but I love my '92. There are very very few cars on the road that I'd rather drive than my 4th gen. The 5th gen interior just feels way too much like an Accord to me. I think I'd rather get a Maxima over the new Accords and the RSX just doesn't do it for me.
