yes provided the car isn't ran under load or on a really hot day with ignition timing at 18btdc. in the heat or with more ignition timing you will get knocking. freeway driving? no big deal. still when you add up the cost of 91 at only a dime more a gallon that's roughly one dollar per fill up.

This has been covered before.

The bottom line is that it will not hurt a stock vehicle.

The caveate is that 89 octane will result in lower fuel economy, which means that you don't actually save money.

It is in your best interest to run 91 like the manual says.

e85 has less bang ounce for ounce than regular gas, it's higher octane is wonderful if you tune for it, you just consume more & need a map that supports it

boosted indeed does wonders for numbers on dyno especially with torque. its pretty much race gas and over here its a dollar cheaper then regular

is and isn't ethanol has great octane numbers but requires more of it versus petro fuel to create the same thermal energy. this is why you will make less power on e85 if you dump it in something like a stock GSR. now if that gsr has 12:1 pistons and you tune it for e85 and it's higher octane, oh hell yea, you can run WAY more timing thus kicking the snot out of regular gas.

I only use 93. It is extremely hard to find 91 in NY.

Which is 89 octane.

87 is low grade, 89 is premium, 91 is supreme.

Also keep in mind that different place rate the same octane differently. RON, MON, and AKI can be used for an octane rating, and do not match each other (in terms of the number listed).

That said, my GSR only gets 91. I've actually set off the knock sensor with 91 on a 105* day, and had to add half a tank of 105 to prevent it from happening the rest of the day. This was on track though, and running for 45 minutes above 6k RPM isn't exactly kind on the engine.

In most locations, premium is 91 octane and midgrade is 89.

Greetings, UK.

I think Japan has RON 100 for premium. I was talking about US octane before.
