Default My 2008 Civic Type R Build

Bought the car about 5 months ago, very lightly used (less than 4k miles), bone stock, for $22k, not a bad price IMO.

This is what it looked like the day I brought it home:

Ran the car stock at my local touge and a couple gymkhana/autox events, found how I wanted to change the car to suit my driving style, and started modding. Don't get me wrong, the car is amazing stock, but it exhibited slight understeer at medium-high speeds, and severe understeer at low speed, so I wanted to get that taken care of. I like my cars set up very loose with a tendency to oversteer, it's more dangerous this way, but it's also faster if you know how to handle it.

So here is my mods list so far:

Volk RE30 18x8.5 +52 front, 18x8 +44 rear
Advan Neova AD08 245/40 front, 225/40 rear
Topline Aragosta 10k/8k coilovers
J's Racing full titanium 70mm cat-delete exhaust
J's Racing race header
Bride Zeta III full bucket seats
Key's Racing buckskin steering wheel and shift ****
Cusco 23mm rear anti-sway bar
Endless Pads and Brake Lines
Sabelt Harnesses

Cosmetic stuff that doesn't really matter:
Eclipse HDD Navigation LCD 2-din head unit
Eclipse rear-view camera
Zoom Engineering Monaco carbon fiber rear view mirror

Some pics now:

Gymkhana:

Future Mods (in my preferred order, might not happen exactly this way though):

Baffled Oil Pan (not sure of brand yet, still researching, lots of options)
Harness Bar (gotta get it custom made)
J's Racing rear camber arms
Defi 52mm gauges in Backyard Special Gauge Pod
Braille 9lb Battery
Hondata FlashPro
IPS-K2 Cams
17" Regamaster or TE37 track wheels with R-compounds
Toda Individual Throttle Bodies
Carbon Hood/Trunk
K20/K24 (*maybe*)

There's other stuff I'm forgetting, but that's all for now. I'm just having fun driving the hell out of this car, I love it so damn much it's ridiculous.

I don't have a specific horsepower goal, just want something with a decent amount of power with instant throttle response for the best driveability possible. The one specific goal I am reaching for is weight, so far I've reduced weight by about 160lbs, bring me down to about 2630, looking to get into the LOW 2500's, maybe even 24xx if I can get creative enough without stripping the car completely.

Looks awesome. If Canada got that sedan instead of the ugly one we have, I would not own a coupe!

Very jealous

Desmond does have 18" rega evo's/mp's but in nsx spec. Grab a set of nsx fronts or just rears. Just a thought.

Yeah, I don't want 18's though for track wheels. I can fit a 17 on this car just fine, this would reduce weight of both the wheels and tires, as well as save me some money. I can get a set of beat up 17" Regas for $3-400.

are you sure its a 52 offset?
your rims seems to stick out too far for it to be 52.
looks more like a 35 or 30

Keep in mind the brakes are different from the usdm civics, therefore their hubs protrude out further than the our cars.

Yes I'm sure, the Type R suspension setup is different than the US Civics, I can't run the same low offsets that you guys do.

This is also part of it.

Honestly, not thinking of coming back really. I love Japan way too much to go back to the US. My wife is Japanese, her family lives near Yokohama, they are giving us a nice house for free. I've only been in the Air Force 6 years, but after I'm finished here in Okinawa, I'll go to Korea for a year, and then get my choice of bases, and I'll head to Tokyo for 6-8 years. That will put me within a few years of retirement. Luckily the Air Force is pretty cool about letting us stay overseas if we choose to do so.

If you ever come back to the states...there are some dank Air Force bases in Florida.
