My friend has a 1994 Del Sol with the B16A2 and is looking for a exhaust system. The car is bone stock other than a generic intake. I have 2 questions:

1. Performance: I was thinking of suggesting 2.25" piping along with the Apexi WS2, or something like the ES Oval. He wants something sporty that isn't too loud. I know with custom piping a resonator is recommended. Any ideas/recommendations for this?

2. Cat: His current cat is bad and didn't pass smog. Aftermarket OEM-style cat's are an option, but would prefer a cheaper alternative. I was thinking of a high-flow Magnaflow cat, but they are 49-state legal. A while ago I read a document posted on HT that discusses the legality and use of aftermarket cat's in CA, but it did not include 1994 year of the Del Sol(only said something about 1995-up). Again, what are our options here?
